Compared to the standard muffler’s 5.0 kg, the Straight Cyclone weighs just 2.6 kg, making it over 40% lighter.

While inheriting Yoshimura’s traditional straight pipe style, it achieves sharp and powerful acceleration performance.

By adopting a large diameter Φ76.2 for the tailpipe, it achieves a powerful look and a sound with increased bass.

The muffler body is made of stainless steel for improved corrosion resistance, and the matte black paint on the muffler surface uses a special heat-resistant paint.

The Straight Cyclone has its roots in the “4-1 manifold muffler” that was fitted to the Daytona CB750FOUR racer in 1971. The unchanging straight pipe style, with no separate silencer and an integrated muffler painted black, is still popular with many riders today.

The “Mechanically Curved Straight 762 Cyclone” inherits Yoshimura’s traditional straight pipe style while achieving sharp and powerful acceleration performance. By adopting a large diameter Φ76.2 in the tailpipe section, it achieves a powerful look and a bassier sound.

The problem with straight cyclones without silencers is that it is difficult to keep the volume within the regulation limits while still achieving the desired performance. Yoshimura Japan has used its muffler manufacturing technology, which has been cultivated over many years, to achieve a powerful ride while complying with various regulations and providing a rich torque feel that starts as soon as you open the throttle.

Compared to the 5.0 kg of a standard muffler, the Straight Cyclone weighs just 2.6 kg, a weight reduction of over 40%. The synergy between the weight reduction and the lower center of gravity achieved by the down-type layout provides a light and nimble riding feel.

The muffler body is made of stainless steel, which improves corrosion resistance. The matte black paint on the muffler surface uses a special paint with heat resistance. Some of the production processes for this cyclone are carried out at Yoshimura Asia (Thailand).

The Honda Monkey 125, which is fully equipped with parts made by the prestigious Yoshimura, looks great!

In 2021, the Honda Monkey 125 was changed from a 4-speed transmission to a 5-speed transmission, further improving its performance. The custom model shown in the photo was tuned by Yoshimura using the Monkey 125 as a base. The body is painted in Yoshimura’s works colors and customized with Yoshimura’s traditional straight cyclone muffler and rearsets. The Monkey 125 is actually a touring bike. With a completely redesigned engine, it has evolved for stress-free riding!

When the Monkey 125 was released in April 2018, many people were skeptical and asked, “Is this really a Monkey?” It is the world’s smallest road-legal bike, and if you fold down the handlebars you can even load it into a car. The Monkey’s greatest feature and appeal was its small body. However, gradually, the Monkey 125’s presence is beginning to spread. Its merits as a new leisure bike are becoming understood. And now, in its third year, the Monkey 125 has undergone its first model change. The engine has been made longer-stroke, changing the output characteristics, and a manual 5-speed transmission has been adopted. How has this first-ever 5-speed transmission changed the Monkey’s riding performance? REPORT: Kurisu Kuniyasu PHOTO: Yamada Shunsuke
