Its roots lie in the Daytona CB750FOUR racer! The unchanging straight-pipe style with the exhaust pipe and silencer integrated.
The Straight Cyclone has its roots in the “4-1 manifold muffler” that was adopted for the 1971 Daytona CB750FOUR racer (see the following page). It does not have a separate silencer, but is an integrated muffler. It is also characterized by its unchanging straight pipe style with black paint, and is still popular with many riders today.

Yoshimura Japan is one of Japan’s leading motorcycle parts manufacturers, renowned worldwide for its success in races such as the midsummer Suzuka 8 Hours and the Daytona 200 Mile Race in the United States. At the Yoshimura Japan booth at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2024, a modified Honda Dream CB750FOUR with racing specifications, the world’s first vehicle equipped with a collective muffler, was on display. Also on display was the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R750, the Yoshimura works machine ridden by Satoshi Tsujimoto in the 1986 Daytona 200 and which took third place at the Suzuka 8 Hours. The “Mechanically Bent Straight 762 Cyclone” for the Super Cub C125 inherits Yoshimura’s traditional straight pipe style while achieving sharp and powerful acceleration performance. By adopting a large diameter Φ76.2 in the tailpipe section, it achieves a powerful look and a bassier sound.
The problem with straight cyclones, which do not have a separate silencer, is that it is difficult to achieve performance while keeping the volume within the regulation limits due to their structure. Yoshimura Japan has been using its muffler manufacturing technology, which has been cultivated over many years, to comply with various regulations, while providing a rich torque feel that starts as soon as you open the throttle, allowing for powerful driving by simply replacing the muffler (see the power graph above).
The weight of the Straight Cyclone muffler for the Super Cub C125 shown in the photo is 2.4 kg, which is more than 35% lighter than the standard muffler’s 3.8 kg. In addition, the down-type layout creates a lower center of gravity, resulting in a lighter riding feel.
The muffler body is made of stainless steel, which improves corrosion resistance. The matte black paint on the muffler surface uses a special paint with heat resistance. Some of the production processes for this cyclone are carried out at Yoshimura Asia (Thailand).

Honda’s Super Cub (C100), a shining masterpiece in the history of motorcycles, debuted in 1958. The C125 was announced in June 2018, marking the 60th anniversary of its birth. It was released as the top model in the series in September of the same year and has been very popular, but a new model with an all-new power unit has already been introduced and was released on September 27, 2021.
