This touring spot is an uninhabited island in Tokyo Bay off the coast of Yokosuka. Because you have to cross the sea by boat, motorcycles are not permitted on the island. Therefore, I’ve rated the ease of riding on the island as one star in the rating chart below. Enjoy a light hiking and exploration tour. The coordinates and address data below indicate Mikasa Pier (Sarushima Ferry Terminal), where boats to Sarushima depart. Boats generally depart hourly, but depending on the season, there are special boats every 15 to 30 minutes throughout the day. The journey takes about 10 minutes. The round-trip fare is 1,400 yen (adults). Advance reservations allow for a BBQ on the beach. The “Yokosuka Naval Port Tour” cruise is also available. Spend a relaxing day exploring Sarushima and the Yokosuka area, stopping for lunch. Island exploration tours are available in 30-minute and 60-minute courses. After a quick tour, we recommend returning to Misaki and riding your motorcycle for a seafood lunch. A trip around the Miura Peninsula makes for a fairly easy, light touring course.
Incidentally, there’s a free bicycle parking lot at Mikasa Park, adjacent to Mikasa Pier. While the permanent parking lot limits bikes to 125cc or less, the temporary parking lot, open on weekends and holidays, allows bikes over 126cc. It’s just over 5km from the nearest Yokosuka Interchange, about a 10-minute drive.
In any case, it’s a good idea to do some research on the following website. Just before Yokosuka, you’ll find Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, and further ahead, Perry Park in Kurihama and Jogashima. Continuing clockwise, you’ll pass through Hayama, Zushi, and Shichirigahama, passing through Enoshima and the Shonan Coast, allowing for a wide variety of flexible routes.
The highlight is being able to experience ancient history.

A tunnel leading from the open-cut main road to the back. There was a command room and an ammunition storehouse. The brick buildings, built using the “French bond” method, are rare.
We recommend joining an exploration tour.

The thick circular concrete is the remains of a gun battery.
