The 2025 models of Yamaha’s flagship supersport models, the YZF-R1M ABS and YZF-R1 ABS, have been announced. Based on the concept of “GP-teched R1 – an R1 evolved with knowledge gained from racing development,” these latest models have been further refined in cornering performance and aerodynamic characteristics, evoking an evolutionary feel that gives the impression of technology directly descended from MotoGP machines.

The YZF-R1 series has evolved with technology directly derived from racing

The 2025 models, the YZF-R1M ABS and YZF-R1 ABS, feature common changes to both models, including winglets that increase the stability of the vehicle body and new seat upholstery that improves grip and hold.

The YZF-R1 ABS is also equipped with a new KYB front suspension with an SDF (Separate Damping Force Function) mechanism that enables precise damping control. Additionally, it features a Brembo front brake (with a monoblock caliper “Stylema®*2” and radial master cylinder) that enhances control feel. These features further improve performance on the circuit.

Three distinctive color variations

The new color of the YZF-R1M ABS is based on carbon fiber and black, and features a buffed aluminum fuel tank with a clear coating to create a premium carbon fiber color that visually expresses the bike’s top-class performance.

Meanwhile, the YZF-R1 ABS is available in two colors: blue, which symbolizes the YZF-R brand, and matte dark gray, which highlights the beauty of the bike’s shape. Both colors give a bold impression.

The history and positioning of the YZF-R1

The YZF-R1 is Yamaha’s flagship model, which began sales in Europe in 1998 and has since led the supersport market. The Japanese version was released in 2009 and has captivated many riders.

The YZF-R1M is positioned as a high-end model that features a lightweight carbon cowling and other features, and is popular with riders looking for more serious circuit riding.
