The latest evolution of the MAX series – the new NMAX 155
Yamaha Taiwan officially announced the new NMAX 155 in September 2025. Developed based on the MAX series’ signature concept of “combining comfort and high performance,” this new model combines urban commuter functionality with touring performance. The design theme is “Nothing but the MAX.” It features three-dimensional, sharp body lines, achieving significantly improved aerodynamic performance and riding stability compared to the previous model.
The MAX series has evolved through the TMAX 530 in 2014, the XMAX 300 in 2018, the first-generation NMAX 155 in 2020, and the model introduced in Taiwan in 2022. The new NMAX 155, joining this lineage as a new model, delivers high performance in a wide range of situations, from everyday commuting to long-distance rides.
Sophisticated new design and high-performance features
The new NMAX 155 features sharp body lines created using a three-dimensional cutting process. While retaining the boomerang design that is the symbol of the MAX series, all lighting, including LED projector headlights, position lamps, and turn signals, has been converted to LED. Combined with the compact, condensed taillights, it gives an advanced and bold impression.
Furthermore, it is newly equipped with a 5-inch full-color TFT meter. Various settings, vehicle information, smartphone notifications, music playback, weather forecasts, etc. can be controlled using the left handlebar switches, and it also supports full map navigation functions (map data permanently updated free of charge) through linkage with the Garmin StreetCross app. It has achieved high information sharing functions suitable for an urban scooter in the digital age.
Equipped with YECVT for free driving control
The biggest evolutionary point of the new NMAX 155 is the newly developed “YECVT (Yamaha Electronic CVT).” This allows the rider to select gears from 1st to 3rd using the shift switch on the left handlebar. In addition, it comes with two riding modes, “SPORTS” and “TOWN,” which bring out optimal performance depending on the riding situation.
In SPORTS mode, throttle response is optimized to provide a quick and powerful acceleration feel, making it ideal for overtaking on the highway or sporty driving on winding roads. Meanwhile, in TOWN mode, gentler gear changes enable fuel-efficient and smooth driving, providing high comfort in stop-and-go traffic in urban areas.
Additionally, on long downhill slopes, engine braking can be applied by downshifting, reducing the burden of braking, achieving both driving safety and operability.
Diverse accessories and expandability
A wide range of genuine accessories are available for the new NMAX 155 to suit your lifestyle. Various customizations are possible, including a “sports screen” and “performance damper” that support sporty driving, a “high screen” that enhances comfort, and a “rear carrier” that enhances loading capacity.
Furthermore, by linking with the dedicated smartphone app “YAMAHA NMAX Apps,” it supports an integrated digital experience including vehicle data management, navigation, music playback, etc. It is equipped with a range of features that greatly enhance its usability as an urban commuter vehicle.
