Triumph’s first electric off-road bike has arrived

Triumph Motorcycles has announced its first electric motorcycle series for junior riders, the TXP series. Equipped with OSET technology, the series is primarily targeted at preschool and elementary school children. It consists of two models with age-appropriate frame design and geometry, scalable electric performance, and excellent safety features.

Since joining the Triumph family in 2022, OSET has worked alongside Triumph’s world-renowned design and engineering team to further develop Triumph’s championship-winning trials technology, and the new TXP series is the result of this collaboration.

Unique 2-in-1 modular design

The biggest feature of the TXP series is its unique 2-in-1 modular design that allows you to switch between a seated off-road style (XPlore mode) and a standing trial style (Trials mode). You can easily switch between styles by removing the seat and mudguards.

The exterior design features a premium color scheme of “Triumph Performance Yellow” and “Graphite Black.”

Designed to grow

To support junior riders at all stages of their development, from learning to balance to conquering technical terrain, each bike is designed from the ground up: the frame, geometry, controls and components are optimised for each age and build, and tuned according to the rider’s size and experience.

Building on a solid foundation of OSET’s pioneering technology, combined with Triumph’s design and engineering expertise, the new TXP models feature a lightweight chassis, advanced rider ergonomics, a unique 2-in-1 modular design and a striking range of colours.

Advanced electronic control system

Each TXP model is equipped with a brushless motor that delivers smooth, predictable power, tuned for riders of all ages and experience. The entire range offers responsive torque and is adjustable for throttle response, speed and power.

The smart control system includes a motor management system called Field Oriented Control (FOC), which applies a magnetic field at the optimal time to maximize torque and ensure smooth response, and Active Power Stabilization (APS), which maintains stable output even when the battery level is low, ensuring peak performance throughout the ride. The high-capacity lithium battery is IP67-rated waterproof and features diagnostic support for increased reliability.

Triumph TXP-12: The perfect start for the youngest riders

TXP-12: Introductory model suitable for children aged 3 and over

The TXP-12 is designed for kids aged 3-5, offering a safe and confidence-building introduction to motorcycling. Its lightweight steel frame and trial-ready design weigh just 22.7kg, making it easy to lift, maneuver and control.

The seat height is just 360mm in Trials mode and 445mm in XPlore mode, so even the smallest riders can plant both feet firmly on the ground. Grips designed for children’s hands and short-reach brake levers make operation comfortable.

TXP-12 specifications and performance

The compact chassis, with a 675mm wheelbase, 152mm ground clearance, and 650mm handlebar height, provides stability and low-speed maneuverability for smaller riders. Equipped with a 50mm front fork and a 60mm rear coil shock with rebound and preload adjustment, it can be adjusted as the rider grows.

The TXP-12 is equipped with a Triumph-tuned 600W, 43V brushless motor. The sealed, high-capacity battery pack provides up to three hours of light riding, or shorter rides at full power in trial mode. An integrated LED panel displays real-time battery life, making it easy for riders and parents to monitor usage.

Extensive safety features

For security, a PIN-protected keypad allows for four-level adjustment of power, speed (up to 22km/h), and throttle response, ensuring parental supervision. A magnetic safety lanyard and two-stage activation system provide additional security, and the electronics are IP67-rated, protecting them from water and dust.

Triumph TXP-16: More confidence, more power and more control

TXP-16: More power and control

Designed for riders aged 5 to 7, the TXP-16 builds on the TXP-12 with more power, upgraded suspension, and a slightly larger chassis. Its 765W, 43V motor delivers more torque and a top speed of approximately 30km/h. The throttle maintains a smooth, predictable feel, helping young riders develop confidence and control.

The TXP-16 is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes for stronger and more linear stopping power, and features a steel frame with a 720mm wheelbase for improved stability.

TXP-16 chassis and suspension

Suspension travel has been increased to 80mm front and 90mm rear for more adventurous riding on a variety of terrain, and like the TXP-12, it uses a 2-in-1 modular design, allowing riders to switch between seated and standing style setups in seconds.

Designed for growing riders, the TXP-16 is lightweight at just 26.2kg in trials mode, delivering nimble and agile handling. Careful attention has been paid to ergonomics, with a seat height of 550mm in Xplore mode and 450mm in trials mode, ensuring confident foot reach and maneuverability.

The simple handle layout and controls designed for children make it easy to use, and advanced electronic controls such as APS and FOC ensure stable performance and efficient power management.

Industry leaders discuss the significance of TXP

Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph Motorcycles, said: “The TXP series represents the start of a new chapter for Triumph. Since OSET joined the family, we’ve combined our expertise to develop models that are technically advanced, but also rooted in real-world riding experiences. Combining our engineering experience gained in off-road competition with OSET’s proven electric trials technology has created a product that will empower the next generation of riders.”

“It’s exciting to see families riding Triumphs together and sharing the joy of motorcycling across generations. Riding an electric bike not only helps young riders improve their motor skills, balance and coordination, but also builds their confidence and instills a lifelong love of motorcycling.”

Ian Smith, founder of OSET, said: “Joining Triumph gives OSET a platform to expand our technology and reach even more new riders. The TXP series inherits everything we’ve built so far – from trials championships to community riding, TXP has a rich history. With the support of Triumph dealers around the world, we can reach even more families, support our communities and further develop the technology that has introduced thousands of young riders to the thrill of two wheels. It’s about serious fun and shaping the future of the sport.”
