On June 23rd, EVEREST XING, a Japanese electric mobility brand developed by Acalie, released a basket-equipped saddle option exclusively for the EX15 series of specified electric scooters.
Until now, stand-up style kick scooters have been the norm, but this new model is being introduced in response to the reality that there are users who are elderly, shopping, or who require stable riding.By attaching it to the high-output EX15/EX15 Pro equipped with a 600W motor, the aim is clearly to make short rides in urban areas and depopulated areas safer and more comfortable.
Cushions and baskets change the way you use your everyday items
The optional basket-equipped saddle uses high-density sponge, providing both cushioning and comfort. Furthermore, the integrated basket design allows for carrying everyday items such as shopping bags or medical appointments. This makes it possible to appeal to older people and women, and adds practical value to the electric kick scooter market, which has primarily appealed to young people, by providing the ability to sit and carry luggage.
EX15 as a platform: specifications and significance
Both the EX15 Pro and EX15 are high-spec electric scooters that fall into the specific moped category. They feature a 600W rated motor (maximum output of 900-1,000W) and a 48V/15Ah (Pro) or 37V/10.2Ah battery, achieving a hill-climbing ability of over 27% and a range of 30-50km. They offer high levels of power performance, comfort, and safety, including 10-inch or 8.5-inch puncture-proof tires, front and rear suspension, LED lights, IPX5 waterproof construction, and disc and drum brakes.
The model is currently priced at around 220,000 yen, and there are issues to be addressed in the future, such as legal reforms and expanding sales channels, but with its high output and established mobility base, the saddle-mounted seating specification opens up new possibilities.
A representative talks about the “democratization of mobility”
Ippei Kanda, sales manager at Acalie, which was in charge of development, commented that while it is a high-performance model that uses a 600W motor, “we want to solve a social issue by updating it to a seated riding specification that targets a user base that is limited to standing riding.” By maximizing the potential of the EX15, they are proposing an evolution into EV mobility that anyone can ride easily and safely.
Making a difference in rural areas and the lives of the elderly
This option for the saddle with basket can be ordered at authorized EVERST XING dealers nationwide. Future plans include battery-swappable models, regional services, and compliance with legal reforms. This initiative is attracting attention as a proposal that goes beyond the framework of existing mobility to address social issues such as an aging population, shopping difficulties, and regional mobility restrictions.
