BMW R 12 G/S…From 2,451,000 yen
BMW Motorrad has announced the new BMW R 12 G/S, inspired by the legendary R 80 G/S.
It comes in three colors: Light White, Night Black Matte, and Sand Rover Matte, and the manufacturer’s suggested retail price ranges from 2,451,000 yen to 2,674,000 yen (tax included).
The GS Sport model will also be available in the same color variations, with prices ranging from 2,545,000 yen to 2,692,000 yen (tax included). Pre-orders are being accepted on the dedicated website, with deliveries scheduled for August 2025 or later.
Design and functionality that inherits the spirit of the R 80 G/S
This model inherits the classic enduro design while blending modern technology and comfort. The “G/S” stands for “Gelände / Straße” (off-road / on-road), and as the name suggests, it is capable of handling a wide range of road conditions. It features equipment suited to off-road riding, such as long suspension stroke, cross-spoke wheels, and a small, compact cockpit fairing.
High-performance boxer engine and latest chassis structure
The new R 12 G/S is equipped with an air-cooled/oil-cooled, two-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 1,170 cc, maximum power output of 80 kW (109 hp) at 7,000 rpm, and maximum torque of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This engine has been a BMW Motorrad icon since the R 32 in 1923, and is known for its unique torque characteristics and sound. The chassis features a one-piece tube-bridge steel space frame, with a rear frame also made of tube steel and bolted to the main frame. 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels are standard, with an 18-inch rear wheel available with the Enduro Package Pro. The front suspension is a 45 mm diameter, inverted telescopic fork with a 210 mm travel, providing stability and comfort when riding off-road.
Advanced equipment that enhances safety and comfort
The R 12 G/S is equipped with numerous advanced features to enhance safety and comfort. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro enables safe braking when cornering, and DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) is also standard. New, classic round instruments, a 12V socket, and powerful LED light units are also standard, further enhancing rider convenience. Customization is also possible with premium-quality genuine BMW Motorrad accessories, allowing the bike to be tailored to suit the individual rider’s individual needs.
