Efficient cooling of the interior for high comfort
The SHUMA is a full-face helmet designed to reduce internal heat buildup. Its greatest feature is its cooling system, the “Ultra Cool System,” which makes full use of wind tunnel testing and CFD analysis that the company has cultivated over many years. The intake is laid out to be optimally oriented to the angle of the helmet when riding. In addition, numerous patterns were examined, including the number, position, angle, and shape of ventilation vents, and the company claims to have determined the optimal combination for efficient heat dissipation.
The air intakes at the forehead, which are divided into two sections, upper and lower, direct fresh air to the back of the head. The mouth section reduces fogging of the shield while taking in air directly to the mouth, achieving unprecedented coolness. You can feel the wind inside the helmet even at low speeds, achieving an unprecedented impact on coolness.
The interior is also designed for cooling. Data was collected about the inside of the helmet and the head space, and a fitting interior (HEXA-PAD) was developed that optimizes the thickness distribution of the interior. By varying the thickness of most of the fabric, a new seamless fit with fewer seams is achieved, allowing you to experience the coolness of the breeze passing through. In addition, the outer surface of the inner pad is treated with DEOFACTOR® antibacterial processing, which inhibits the growth of bacteria caused by summer sweat.
The helmet was designed based on OGK Kabuto’s expertise in wind tunnel testing and CFD analysis, and combines functionality and beauty. It features
OGK Kabuto’s patented “Wake Stabilizer PAT. (PAT. No. 4311691)” system on both sides, which controls the airflow around the helmet while riding and reduces stress. It prevents the helmet from shaking while riding and also allows for smooth head movement when checking behind you.
The shield is the CF-1W UIC Shield (UIC Clear), which is also used in the company’s full-face helmet, the KAMUI-3. The UV & IR Cut Shield uses heat-shielding material from Teijin Limited, blocking 99% of ultraviolet (UV) rays and 74% of infrared (IR) rays. This also suppresses temperature increases caused by the heat generated by sunlight’s infrared (IR) rays.
