NEXCO Three Companies to Start Fixed Rate Discounts for Motorcycles on Weekends and Holidays from April 5th

Starting Saturday, April 5, 2025, East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO East Japan), Central Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO Central Japan), and West Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO West Japan), along with the Miyagi Prefectural Road Corporation, will implement a “Motorcycle Fixed Rate Discount” that will offer a fixed rate discount on tolls for ETC-equipped motorcycles that use expressways on weekends and holidays.

This discount has been offered every year since 2022 with the aim of stimulating touring demand on weekends and holidays when tourism demand is high, promoting motorcycle use, and revitalizing the region. It was well received last year and will continue this year as well.

The discount applies to Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays between April 5th (Sat) and November 30th (Sun) 2025, on which advance application is made. However, the implementation period in Hokkaido is from April 5th (Sat) to October 26th (Sun) of the same year.

The discount applies to motorcycles that use ETC wireless communication and travel on designated roads. The designated roads are the majority of expressways managed by the three NEXCO companies and the Miyagi Prefectural Road Public Corporation, but the following roads are not eligible for the discount.

• Third Keihin Expressway

• Yokohama Shindo

• Yokohama-Yokosuka Expressway

• Second Hanna

Expressway • Second Shinmei Expressway

• Kanmon Tunnel

• Yagiyama Bypass

• Okinawa Expressway

• Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line (However, this is included in determining mileage)

For details on the roads affected, please visit the official NEXCO West Japan website.

The discount applies to those who drive over 80km on the designated roads in one trip, and receive a 37.5% discount on the toll. In principle, one trip refers to driving from the entrance to the exit of the expressway without exiting, but even if you transfer to a designated road via a specific interchange, toll gate, or new direct section, it will be considered as one trip, and the distance traveled on each designated road will be added together to determine the discount.

Applications will begin at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Members must register through NEXCO Central Japan’s “Hayatabi” service, then enter the date of use, ETC card information, ETC onboard unit management number, etc., and apply before use. If you are already a member, no new registration is required. However, ETC corporate cards are not eligible.

When applying, you must use a motorcycle equipped with a registered ETC card and ETC on-board unit to use the applicable roads. If you use an ETC card or on-board unit that is different from the registered one, the regular fee will apply. In addition, if you meet the requirements for holiday discounts and late-night discounts, the cheapest discount will be applied.

Motorcycles are easily affected by weather conditions such as wind and rain, and because they have no protection in the event of an accident, even a minor accident can have serious consequences. Before using the expressway, it is important to check the weather forecast and make sure to drive safely and comfortably.

This initiative is expected to provide economic benefits to motorcycle users and also contribute to the revitalization of local tourism, making it a very attractive measure for riders planning to go on tours.

ETC Motorcycle-only “Touring Plan” starts on April 1st

NEXCO East Japan, Central Japan, and West Japan, along with the road public corporations of Miyagi, Kyoto, and Hyogo prefectures, will be offering a “Touring Plan” for ETC-equipped motorcycles from April 1 to November 30, 2025. This plan allows unlimited use of expressways within designated areas for a fixed price for up to two or three days, and a total of 22 routes have been set up. Advance application is required, and applications can be made at the last minute via smartphone, taking into account the weather on the day. There are no cancellation fees. Applications will be accepted from 2:00 PM on March 25 on each official NEXCO website.
