A large 5.5-inch display that combines improved visibility and recording performance

Daytona has announced the latest model of its smart motorcycle monitor, the Mio MiVue MK50. The MK50 features a 5.5-inch, 1440 x 720 pixel high-resolution IPS LCD screen with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, ensuring high visibility even in direct sunlight. The display also supports automatic brightness adjustment, ensuring optimal viewing at all times. Furthermore, the screen can be switched between full screen and split mode, allowing for flexible layouts to suit the situation. This allows for real-time camera footage to be checked and riding data such as speed, distance traveled, altitude, and direction to be simultaneously displayed.

Dual camera with HDR and EIS for high-quality recording

The MK50 is equipped with dual 1080P HDR-compatible cameras on the front and rear, supporting smooth, high-frame-rate recording at 58 fps. The camera sensor uses Sony’s Starvis II IMX662, providing excellent light-gathering performance even at night or in backlit conditions. It also features electronic image stabilization (EIS), effectively reducing blurring caused by vibrations while driving. Recording files are saved in the highly compressed, high-quality SuperMP4 format (H.264 codec), ensuring clear recording in the event of an accident. Furthermore, the G-sensor’s impact detection function saves event recording files separately from regular recordings and protects them from overwriting.

Powerful support for touring with extensive functionality and high expandability

The MK50 supports smartphone connectivity via 5G WiFi and Bluetooth 5.4, and by connecting to the dedicated app “MiVue Pro,” even more functions are available. It also comes standard with a GPS unit, which can record logs of location information, speed, mileage, and more. It also supports the optional Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which can display and warn of tire pressure and temperature in real time. It also features a parking mode that automatically starts recording when it detects an impact while parked, providing added peace of mind.

Practical design with excellent waterproofing and easy installation

The MK50 body, along with the included front and rear cameras, remote control, GPS unit, and various cables, are IP67 waterproof, allowing for safe use even when riding in the rain. The connectors are also waterproof to IP65 standards. Another feature is the quick-mount system, which is compatible with commercially available Ram mounts, making installation and removal easy. Dedicated mounts optimized for installation on the handlebars are included, and the wiring is simplified with an integrated 5-in-1 cable, making installation on the bike a breeze.

The MK50 is a bike that was developed with the aim of not only improving riding safety and comfort, but also becoming a powerful partner for riders in all situations, including touring and commuting. The price is 70,400 yen including tax, and the release is scheduled for May.
