398cc DOHC engine delivers sharp acceleration and agility

At its heart is a newly developed 398cc water-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, single-cylinder engine. This unit has been significantly improved over the previous model, delivering powerful torque and linear throttle response. It also complies with Euro 5+ regulations, achieving both environmental friendliness and high power output. Two iridium spark plugs, titanium intake valves, sodium-filled exhaust valves, and newly designed pistons and crankcases improve combustion efficiency while minimizing mechanical loss.
The ride-by-wire 42mm throttle body delivers a good balance of controllability at low RPM and power at high RPM, delivering performance in a wide range of situations, from city driving to winding roads and circuit driving.
Specially designed frame and suspension provide exceptional maneuverability

The frame is made of high-rigidity steel pipes, providing both flexibility and strength, allowing it to faithfully respond to the rider’s intentions even on rough roads and at high speeds. The suspension and steering geometry have also been optimized specifically for street and supermoto tracks, and the upright riding position contributes to agile handling and stability, as well as comfort over long distances.
Equipped with the cutting-edge electronic control system “SIRS”

The DR-Z4SM is equipped with the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS). It precisely supports the rider’s intentions through a variety of electronic controls, including throttle-by-wire, ride mode selection (SDMS), traction control (STCS), and an independent ON/OFF function for the rear ABS. The SDMS has three modes: Mode A provides sharp acceleration and instantaneous response, Mode B provides a smoother power curve, and Mode C provides stable torque characteristics on low-mu roads.
In addition to Mode 1 (dry roads) and Mode 2 (wet roads), the traction control also has a G (gravel) mode that allows limited slippage, ensuring control is not lost even on unpaved roads and the fun of rear sliding that is typical of a supermoto.
Practicality and riding pleasure in every detail

The headlight is an LED projector type, and it is also equipped with a position lamp integrated with the turn signal. It combines a sophisticated look with high visibility. The muffler and exhaust pipe are made of stainless steel, contributing to heat resistance, light weight, and a slim design. Furthermore, the double-wall structure reduces heat around the rider’s feet.
The clutch is equipped with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS), which reduces the operating load while ensuring reliable power transmission during sudden acceleration and smooth gear down when decelerating.The dry sump lubrication system ensures a low center of gravity and high ground clearance, contributing to stability in all riding situations.
