Suzuki’s proud 249cc single-cylinder models, the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250, have been released in new colors. Equipped with an innovative oil-cooled engine in a compact body, these models are ideal for a wide range of uses, from city riding to touring. We will introduce the appeal of these models in detail.
Oil-cooled engine with innovative cooling system
Both models are equipped with Suzuki’s proprietary oil-cooled 249cm3 single-cylinder engine. The engine’s greatest feature is its cooling method, known as the “SOCS (Suzuki Oil Cooling System).” Conventional oil-cooled engines are cooled by injecting engine oil from above the combustion chamber, but the SOCS efficiently cools the engine by creating passages around the outside of the combustion chamber through which engine oil flows. This innovative cooling system improves combustion efficiency, reduces weight, and reduces friction. As a result, the engine has succeeded in achieving both high rotation speeds, high power output, and excellent fuel economy.
It produces a maximum output of 26 PS/9,300 rpm and a maximum torque of 22 Nm/7,300 rpm. It combines powerful acceleration performance from low speeds with excellent fuel economy of 44.5 km/L (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism notified value: constant speed fuel economy value 60 km/h, with two occupants).
Styling that emphasizes a sporty impression
Both models feature a powerfully shaped fuel tank, a two-piece front and rear seat, and a swingarm-mounted rear fender, emphasizing a sporty impression. They are also equipped with compact, thin LED headlights that ensure excellent handling. Furthermore, the Suzuki Easy Start System, which allows the engine to be started with a single push, is standard equipment, providing a comfortable riding experience.
Gixxer SF250: A sports model with an attractive, flowing full cowl
The Gixxer SF250 is a sporty full-cowl model with a forward-leaning design that lowers the center of gravity. It features a low-slung silhouette and flowing character lines with bold surfaces. It is equipped with a wide and unique LED headlamp that matches the styling design, and features a voluminous tank and a slim, two-piece front and rear seat with a distinctive design.
The rear area has a sharp and compact impression with a grab bar that is integrated with the cowl, an LED tail lamp, and a swingarm-mounted rear fender. It also comes equipped with a dual-type muffler with two exhaust outlets on a short silencer. The compact engine and frame keep the equipped weight down to 158 kg.
Gixxer 250: A naked model with a fearless impression
The Gixxer 250 is a naked model with compact proportions, with the cowl condensed towards the center of the body. The integrated design of the LED headlamp, shrouds, and tank gives a powerful impression. It also features a compact, slim LED headlamp that realizes good handling, as well as a voluminous tank and a slim, two-piece front and rear seat for a sophisticated design.
The rear area is similar to the Gixxer SF250, with a grab bar integrated into the cowl, LED tail lamps, and a swingarm-mounted rear fender, giving it a sharp and compact impression. The exhaust uses a dual-type muffler with two exhaust outlets on a short silencer. The equipped weight is 158 kg, the same as the Gixxer SF250.
Fully equipped and new coloring
Both models are equipped with a highly visible, fully digital LCD multi-function meter. It is packed with convenient features, such as an RPM indicator that lets you know when to shift gears, a gear position indicator, a clock and switchable odometer/twin trip meter, and an oil change indicator that lets you know when it’s time to change the oil.
It also comes equipped with a full range of features to enhance riding performance, including a front fork with an inner tube diameter of 41mm, a rear suspension with 7-stage preload adjustment, front and rear disc brakes (front 300mm, rear 220mm) with ABS as standard, and front 110 and rear 150 size radial tires.
This model change includes a completely new color scheme, with both models available in three color variations.
Suzuki’s Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 are attractive models that combine an innovative oil-cooled engine, comprehensive equipment, and a sporty design. With a compact and lightweight body, powerful acceleration, and excellent fuel economy, they will be useful in a wide range of situations, from commuting to school or work to weekend touring. The new color schemes are also attractive, and it’s a nice point that you can choose a model that suits your style.

- The loaded weight is the total weight including fuel, lubricants, and battery fluid.
- Fuel consumption figures are based on specified test conditions. Actual fuel consumption may vary depending on various factors, such as the customer’s operating environment (weather, traffic congestion, etc.), driving style, vehicle condition (equipment, specifications), and maintenance status.
- The steady-state fuel consumption value is the fuel consumption rate based on actual measurements taken while driving at a constant vehicle speed.
- The WMTC mode value is a calculated value based on the exhaust gas test results measured in a driving mode that is an international standard and includes starting, accelerating, stopping, etc. Driving mode classes are classified according to engine displacement and maximum speed.
- The engine power display has changed from “PS/rpm” to “kW/rpm”, and the torque display has changed from “kgf・m/rpm” to “N・m/rpm”. Values in < > are reference values in the old units.
- The body color may differ from the actual color due to monitor display.
- This specification may be changed without notice for improvement purposes.
