Yamaha Motor will release the 2025 model of its neo-retro style moped, the XSR125 ABS, on April 16th. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is 506,000 yen (tax included).
Retro-inspired design
The XSR125 ABS incorporates retro design elements such as a round LED headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and tuck-roll seat, while also being equipped with modern features.
The 2025 model will be available in two new colors: “Light Bluish Gray Metallic 9 (Silver)” and “Very Dark Orange Metallic 1 (Brown).” Together with the existing “Black Metallic 12 (Black),” this brings the total to three colors.
Engine with variable valve timing mechanism
The engine is a 124cc water-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that produces a maximum output of 11kW (15PS) at 10,000rpm and a maximum torque of 12N・m at 8,000rpm. It employs a variable valve timing mechanism (VVA) to achieve both ease of handling at low and medium speeds and powerful driving performance at high speeds. It also features an assist and slipper clutch (A&S clutch) that reduces clutch operation and improves vehicle stability when downshifting.
Full-scale specifications such as inverted forks
The body is made of steel Deltabox frame, achieving both rigidity and light weight. The front is equipped with a Φ37mm inverted fork and the rear is equipped with a monoshock suspension, achieving a comfortable ride and high driving stability. The brakes are disc brakes on both the front and rear, and ABS is standard equipment. The tire sizes are 110/70-17 in the front and 140/70-17 in the rear, designed for on-road riding.
High fuel efficiency of approximately 50km/L
The overall length is 2,030 mm, the overall width is 805 mm, the overall height is 1,075 mm, the seat height is 810 mm, and the vehicle weight is 137 kg. The fuel tank capacity is 10 L, and the fuel consumption rate in WMTC mode is 49.4 km/L (with one occupant).
The XSR125 ABS is a model that combines retro design with the latest technology, and is expected to be a bike that can be used in a wide range of situations, from commuting in urban areas to weekend touring.
