Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the new TF 250-X, a 2026 model of its acclaimed dedicated motocross machine that leads the crowded 250cc segment. With a focus on performance, durability, and rider experience, the updated TF 250-X delivers sharper power, faster starts, and race-honed controllability. Built
for competitive success, the updates include an all-new airbox and silencer for maximized airflow, enhanced engine mapping for improved power delivery and throttle response, refined suspension tuning, and a new Exedy clutch.
Designed to meet new FIM and AMA exhaust noise regulations, the new airbox and silencer are engineered to meet both performance and exhaust noise requirements while maintaining Triumph’s signature engine sound. Combined with the new engine calibration, the TF 250-X delivers superior performance on the racetrack.
Enhanced ECU mapping improves power delivery and throttle response across the rev range, enabling quicker starts and sharper cornering. The new, high-performance Exedy clutch delivers more direct clutch engagement, improved durability under extreme conditions, and a significantly increased torque capacity. Additionally, updated suspension tuning delivers improved mid-range stroke control, chassis balance, and cornering stability.
The battery tray layout has also been refined to ensure reliability and ease of maintenance. The oil level window has been redesigned for improved accessibility and precision. Completing
the updates is an all-new graphic scheme for 2026. Striking in-mold decals in Triumph’s signature Performance Yellow add to the TF250-X’s focused, aggressive style, enhancing its distinctive presence on the track.
These updates build on the TF250-X’s successful 2023 debut, developed in close collaboration with motocross legend Ricky Carmichael and Dakar champion Ivan Cervantes. The TF 250-X sets a new benchmark in the 250cc category with its class-leading power-to-weight ratio, factory-level KYB suspension and advanced rider-focused electronics.

Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer, Triumph Motorcycles, said:
“The TF 250-X has already made a huge impact on the world of motocross, scoring podiums in the 2025 AMA Supercross Championship and the MX2 class of MXGP. Now built for 2026, the TF 250-X is the result of constant development and feedback from our factory riders. With a sharper power delivery, refined suspension and advanced electronics, it’s designed to give riders the advantage they need to thrive.
These updates will allow more riders to make the most of the torque, improving feel, acceleration and response – all of which means a stronger competitive edge. The new Exedy clutch and enhanced engine calibration are also great reasons for riders to try a Triumph for next season.”
A complete and comprehensive design
The high-performance four-stroke single-cylinder engine delivers 48 PS at 13,500 rpm, and combined with a unique, ultra-compact, lightweight aluminum chassis, the TF 250-X achieves a class-leading power-to-weight ratio.
Triumph’s racing powertrain has already established itself on the racetrack. Featuring forged aluminum Koenig pistons and Delwest titanium valves, the engine also features diamond-like carbon low-friction coating and lightweight magnesium covers, plus DLC-coated internals for impressive power and durability. The mass-optimized layout and Dell’Orto 44mm throttle body deliver razor-sharp throttle response, while the Athena ECU provides advanced traction and launch control.
High engine control and tuning are complemented by the optional accessory MX Tune Pro app, which controls the programmable engine control system and provides user-selectable mapping, a real-time engine sensor dashboard, and live diagnostics.
The 5-speed gearbox with Exedy clutch and Brembo hydraulic system ensures smooth and precise shifting, and the quickshifter allows clutchless upshifting from 2nd to 5th gear.
Race-grade suspension
The unique aluminum chassis features a high-strength, lightweight spine frame and twin cradles, designed to deliver the optimal balance of performance, mass, and flexibility. Combined with a hydroformed swingarm, the chassis is engineered for optimal flex and rear grip. The
linkage system ensures consistent suspension performance and is tuned for mid-stroke control, chassis balance, and improved cornering stability. This high-performance setup is completed by KYB 48mm AOS coil forks, forged and machined 7075-T6 aluminum triple clamps, and a 3-way piggyback coil rear shock.
Carefully crafted parts configuration
The TF 250-X is equipped with race-proven premium components throughout, offering a specification unmatched by any production motocross bike.
At the heart of its stopping power is a high-performance Brembo braking system featuring two 24mm piston floating calipers in the front and one 26mm piston floating caliper in the rear. Equipped with a 260mm Galfer Wave disc in the front and a 220mm disc in the rear, the system delivers precise and controlled braking in all conditions.
Lightweight DirtStar 7000 Series aluminum rims are mated to machined aluminum hubs and shod with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 mid-soft tires, providing excellent grip and durability on racetracks. For rider control and comfort, the TF 250-X is equipped with a ProTaper ACF carbon core handlebar and ODI half-waffle lock-on grips for factory-level feel.
Advanced electronics further enhance the riding experience, including launch control (adjustable via handlebar or app), traction control, dual engine maps, a sensor dashboard that displays live data and diagnostics, and an integrated hour meter for precise engine-running hour tracking.

Building on the high level of specification already fitted as standard, Triumph has partnered with some of the biggest premium brands to develop exclusive Competition Accessories to further enhance performance and capability.
These accessories include:
- Akrapovič full titanium exhaust system

- Athena LC-GPA Launch Control Module with rider-selectable enhanced traction control and launch control settings and LED engine speed indicator
