Injecting SUV flair into a “crossover commuter”

Yamaha Motor will announce the 2026 models of the front two-wheeled models TRICITY155 ABS and TRICITY125 ABS. They will be released on September 25th. The prices are 572,000 yen (tax included) for the TRICITY 125 and 616,000 yen (tax included) for the TRICITY 155.
This will be the first model to undergo a major overhaul of its exterior styling since 2014. The concept is called “Enhanced and Friendly LMW,” and it has been designed to enhance practicality and “friendliness” for city riding and commuting, from appearance to functionality.
The updated styling inherits the “Y” motif face, but incorporates horizontal tones and an inverted trapezoid silhouette, and is equipped with plastic fenders that evoke SUV elements and a pillion grip that evokes roof rails. This maintains the ease of handling of the previous model, while also achieving a visually powerful and high-quality appearance. The previous size has been maintained, with emphasis placed on stability when straddling and ease of handling. The crossover design indicates a shift in direction to strengthen its presence as a practical vehicle for urban use.
Deeper information provided by the “connected” 4.2-inch TFT display

In terms of information display, the vehicle is equipped with a 4.2-inch TFT display, and when connected to a smartphone using the “Y-Connect” app, a “Turn by Turn” display linked to the navigation function provided by Google becomes possible. Directions and remaining distance at intersections and other locations are shown on the display. In addition to the existing vehicle information display, it is now also possible to display emails and incoming calls, and make calls (using a headset). The display mode can be switched using a switch on the left handlebar, and there are two types: “function-centered mode” and “emotional mode,” in which the function bar ripples according to the engine speed.
Evolution of safety and convenience features to support commuting and city riding

Convenience and safety are limited to the TRICITY155, but it is equipped with an ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) system that flashes front and rear flashers during sudden braking to warn following vehicles. It also employs a TCS (Traction Control System) that uses a sensor to detect rear wheel spin and controls fuel supply to ensure smooth starting and acceleration on slippery surfaces. All models are equipped with a USB Type-C compatible charging socket on the left side of the front inner panel, making them easy to use in everyday life.
BLUE CORE engine and LMW technology enhance riding quality

At the heart of its driving performance is the BLUE CORE engine, equipped with a Smart Motor Generator System that enables quiet engine starts and restarts. It is also equipped with a Stop & Start System, an idling stop mechanism, and the design clearly shows consideration for fuel economy and environmental performance. The chassis structure uses LMW Ackermann geometry and LMW technology. The front wheel suspension and steering mechanism use a parallelogram link, achieving both lightness and stability, improving the fun of turning while leaning (body tilt) and the sense of security at high speeds.
The new functions and designs shown so far go beyond mere minor changes and can be said to have evolved the character of the TRICITY series. The styling, information display, safety control, and driving feel have all been revised, resulting in a significant improvement in usability for commuting and city driving.
