“TUAREG” refers to the nomadic people of the western Sahara Desert in Africa. Aprilia’s mid-size sports bike, named after this bike, is an adventure touring model that also takes into account harsh off-road riding. It is currently on sale in Japan under the name “Touareg 660.”
The 2025 model of the same vehicle was unveiled at EICMA 2024. A special edition “Touareg Rally” was also unveiled, equipped with sturdy gold-colored spoke wheels, gold-colored inverted front forks, an upturned front fender, a sports muffler, and more.
The 2025 model features a redesigned front cowl, with a smoother upper structure without a lower lip, giving the front view a more dynamic and streamlined appearance towards the top.
The engine is the same as the 2024 model, a water-cooled, four-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder, DOHC, four-valve engine with a displacement of 659cc. The new model has an enlarged throttle body from the previous 48mm to 52mm. In addition, the adoption of a newly designed generator reduces inertia, resulting in improved acceleration performance.
The frame color has been arranged in a novel red. The standard body color of the bike is available in two colors, Tornado Green and Hailstorm White, both based on black. For test drive impressions of the 2024 domestic model, please see the page below!
The Touareg Rally is based on a standard car and has evolved into a full-fledged rally car.

This rally version is equipped with sturdy gold-colored spoke wheels, gold-colored inverted front forks, an upturned front fender, a sports muffler, and more.
The special edition Touareg Rally is based on the standard model and has been redesigned to be fully rally-spec. Its off-road characteristics are enhanced by high mudguards and a newly designed, more robust aluminum skid plate, providing high protection and durability. A sturdy bush guard with a metal core has also been installed in front of the hand grips.
The bike also comes standard with a newly designed chain guide, improving safety even in harsh off-road riding. Ergonomics have also been taken into consideration to improve control performance off-road. The seat height has been increased by 20mm compared to the standard model to make it easier to transition between seated and standing positions. The handlebars have also been reshaped to improve handling.

The heavy-duty spoke wheels with narrow Ergal rims in gold are fitted with tread tires with inner tubes.
The 240mm Kayaba front suspension is the same as the standard model, but now uses linear K springs rather than progressive springs, which reduces comfort slightly but significantly improves off-road feel and gives the rider better control over rough terrain.
The side stand is fitted with a support foot with an enlarged contact area, which prevents the bike from tilting due to the stand sinking in when parking on soft ground such as sand.
The Touareg Rally is equipped with a special SC Project exhaust system with a titanium silencer. This sporty muffler not only improves performance by improving exhaust efficiency, but also features an aggressive racing style with a large Φ60mm muffler end.
With rally tires, you can easily cross desert dunes!

The development of the Touareg Rally was also undertaken by Aprilia Racing’s works rider, Jacopo Cerruti, who achieved a spectacular victory in an African rally.
“Our aim was to make it as close as possible to the bike that won the African race, and we can say we succeeded in this. The standard version is also excellent off-road capable, but the rally version goes a step further and is fully rally-spec. With the right rally tyres it can easily cross desert dunes.
My experience gained from racing has been particularly useful in providing feedback to the electronic control systems, leading to the creation of new engine maps that deliver a quicker and more decisive throttle response.
In addition, the suspension has been adjusted to a front fork that provides better support, and a rear shock absorber that more effectively absorbs uneven road surfaces when riding at high speeds, dramatically improving the stability of the entire bike.”
