A major step towards carbon neutrality
Honda has unveiled the new Honda WN7 electric motorcycle in Europe through its UK subsidiary, Honda Motor Europe Limited. This marks an important step towards Honda’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. In order to reduce CO₂ emissions from both its motorcycle products and its corporate activities, the company has set a goal of electrifying all of its motorcycles by the 2040s, and the new WN7 is positioned at the core of this strategy. Honda has positioned 2024 as the “first year of global expansion of electric motorcycles,” and has begun full-scale expansion of its electric lineup.
Origin and concept of the model
The WN7 model name is composed of several elements. “W” represents the development concept of “Be the Wind,” “N” refers to the naked style, and “7” is a number indicating the power class. The design is based on the “EV Fun Concept” concept model unveiled at the 2024 Milan Show (EICMA 2024), and this design has been realized in mass-production specifications. It pursues a quiet and smooth driving feel and a refreshing feeling that is different from conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) models.
Key technical specifications and features
The WN7 is equipped with a fixed lithium-ion battery and has an expected range of over 130km. It uses the CCS2 (Combined Charging System Type 2) charging method, which allows rapid charging from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. When charging from a household power outlet, it can be charged to 100% in approximately 3 hours. The design is slim and futuristic, while its output is comparable to that of a 600cc ICE vehicle and its torque is close to that of a 1000cc ICE vehicle. It also comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT screen and can be connected to the Honda RoadSync app.

Starting with the launch of the WN7, Honda plans to strengthen its electric model lineup not only in the FUN category, but also in the commuter category, which is intended for everyday use such as commuting to work or school. As customer needs become more diverse, Honda aims to offer a full lineup of electric motorcycles with different designs, performance, and uses. Through continued investment and technological innovation, the WN7 is positioned to accelerate electrification in the motorcycle market and support the transition to a sustainable mobility society.
