Honda CB1100R

The photo shows the 1982 model equipped with a full cowl, new Comstar wheels, and a tandem step.

The Honda CB1100R, an export-only model released in 1981, is a genuine sports model designed to be the “strongest CB” with the DNA of both works endurance racers and superbike racers. Born to win production races, this model comes standard with thoroughly reinforced suspension and brakes, an FRP cowl, a single seat, and a large-capacity 24L aluminum gas tank.

The 1981 CB1100R was limited to 1,050 units as it was intended as a base model for production races. The 1982 model was limited to 1,500 units. The 1982 model had a smaller front wheel, downsized from 19 inches to 18 inches, and a new Comstar wheel design was used. The half cowl was also replaced with a full cowl with excellent aerodynamic properties, and the maximum engine output was also improved. It was equipped with steps and a seat for tandem riding (detachable single seat cowl).

The 1983 model, the final model, saw the rear swingarm changed from a round pipe type to a square shape (without any other major changes). The CB1100R had finished its role as a mass-produced commercial vehicle with the potential to win production races, but its red and white two-tone color scheme was later inherited by the CB series and Monkey (limited edition), and it is still respected as a legendary machine and an aspirational classic.

Doremi Collection Honda CB1100 Type R

Based on the naked model Honda CB1100, it has been customized to the style of a “CB1100R” with an exterior kit from Doremi Collection.

The base vehicle is the Honda CB1100. The photo shows the final model, the CB1100 RS Final Edition (2022 model). The vehicle is equipped with an air-cooled, 4-stroke, inline 4-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve, 1,140cc engine. The maximum output is 90 horsepower.

The Doremi Collection offers new forms of customization, including the development and release of exterior kits based on the Kawasaki Z900RS that faithfully reproduce the form of the GPZ900R Ninja and Z1000R Lawson Replica.

The photo shows a custom Honda CB1100 (SC65), equipped with the “last big air-cooled engine,” dressed up with the “CB1100 (SC65) type R exterior set” developed by Doremi Collection.

The “CB1100 (SC65) type R exterior set” thoroughly recreates the silhouette of the legendary “CB1100R,” the object of CB fans’ admiration. The fuel tank is made of aluminum and has been carefully designed down to the smallest detail. The turn signals and mirrors have been developed as reproduction parts that can also be used on the real CB1100R, faithfully recreating the original atmosphere.

The exterior set was developed based on the concept of “enjoying your dream bike at an affordable price,” and is finished to a form that is so identical to the real thing that it could be mistaken for the real thing down to the smallest detail.

“I’m so happy to be able to use this legendary bike for everyday riding around town and touring!”

The Honda CB1100 Type R exhibited at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2025 is the beloved bike of Razor Ramon RG, a comedian known for his 30 years of motorcycle experience and a passion for motorcycles. He first encountered it at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2018 and fell in love at first sight with its high level of perfection. After test riding it at a store, he knew he wanted it and persuaded his wife to buy it.

Razor Ramon RG’s beloved bike is based on a new CB1100 and is fitted with an exterior set (painted in the original color) from Doremi Collection. Like the CB1100R, the wheels and covers below the engine are gold. The exposed parts of the frame are painted red. When he purchased the bike it had a half-cowl design reminiscent of the 1981 model, but by modifying various parts it has been upgraded to a full-cowl design reminiscent of the 1982 and 1983 models.

“The CB1100R is a bike that many people dream of owning. However, a genuine CB1100R is extremely expensive and difficult to maintain. However, the CB1100 Type R is based on a new CB1100, so its performance and reliability are impeccable. I’m really happy to be able to use this legendary bike, which I’ve always dreamed of, for everyday riding around town and touring!” (Razor Ramon RG)
