The Japanese GP decides the outcome, with Marquez winning with overwhelming strength

At the Japanese Grand Prix, Marc Márquez and the Desmosedici GP capped off an incredible season by winning the riders’ title with five races to go, the first world championship victory for the Spanish champion wearing the red of Ducati.

The journey that began when Márquez joined the official Borgo Panigale team at the beginning of 2025 has turned into an extraordinary season: race after race, the Ducati Lenovo Team champion has established himself as an absolute protagonist in the pinnacle of international motorcycle competition.

The astonishing numbers tell the story of a crushing victory

His path to the riders’ title is marked by some incredible numbers: 14 sprint wins and 11 GP wins have given him 541 points, putting him at the top of the World Championship standings, 201 points ahead of second place.

His combined sprint and GP results are impressive: he has recorded 10 double victories in a season, seven of which were consecutive, making him the longest consecutive sprint and GP win streak in history.

Francesco Bagnaia delivered a brilliant performance at the Japanese Grand Prix, winning both the sprint race and Sunday’s race, adding further value to an already historic weekend for Ducati.

For the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, this is the fourth consecutive riders’ title, achieved by three different riders: Francesco Bagnaia in 2022 and 2023, Jorge Martín in 2024 and Marc Márquez in 2025.

This achievement, unprecedented in the MotoGP era, highlights the strength of a technical and sporting project, capable of adapting, evolving and winning with different riders, ensuring that the Desmosedici GP remains at the forefront of the world stage.

Achieved sixth consecutive constructors’ championship

This riders’ title follows the constructors’ title secured in Barcelona and marks the sixth consecutive year for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, an unprecedented run in the history of MotoGP and further testament to the strength of a project built on talent, passion and Made in Italy excellence.

The enormous development effort behind the victory

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said:

“The story continues, and what an incredible story we are weaving! We are world champions for the fourth consecutive year, proving that when talent, skill and dedication combine, the lines between the possible and the extraordinary disappear.”

Domenicali also stressed that while everything may look easy on the track when results are coming consistently, there is constant teamwork behind every success.

The meticulous work behind the scenes leads to victory

At the heart of these successes are figures that speak to the dedication and meticulous work of the Borgo Panigale team: more than 100,000 hours of design, more than 11,000 hours of calculations and simulations on the Ducati HPC cluster, and more than 2,500 CFD simulation cycles for the aerodynamics and engine.

Over 5,000 hours of testing on the test bench, overseeing more than 80 engine changes during the season, and producing 48 race engines for the six Desmosedici GP riders, the team has collected over 1TB of data on the track, with over 800GB of extended data.

More than 200 hours of on-track testing by Michele Pirro, more than 30,000 hours in the pit box by the Ducati Lenovo Team and more than 300 briefing meetings.

The perfect combination of Marquez and the bike

“In Marc’s case, this process was natural. He immediately found harmony with the Desmosedici GP,” said CEO Domenicali. Right from the first race, he lived up to all expectations and in many cases exceeded them.

It was a testament to the mutually beneficial relationship between his exceptional talent and the meticulous work of his passionate and talented team: months of design and simulation, hours of data analysis, meticulous engine modifications, and meticulous race strategies that are unseen by the spectators, but which are built up behind the scenes to win.

It’s the little details that make the difference and are the deciding factor in helping champions deliver their best performance on the track.

Celebrations in Borgo Panigale

Celebrations took place at Ducati’s headquarters in Borgo Panigale, with everyone who contributes to this victory every day. Employees gathered at the headquarters to share the pride and excitement of the victory, once again proving that they are the brand’s most passionate fans.

Domenicali concluded by saying, “I would like to thank everyone at Ducati Corse for what we have achieved together once again. We are all part of a mechanism that only works if each element gives its all, and today, with Gigi Dall’Igna at the helm and inspiring us all, the Ducati mechanism is functioning at its best.”
