Major changes to the 2026 Ninja ZX-25R SE model

The 2026 Ninja ZX-25R SE has undergone several changes from the previous model. The most notable change is the change in output characteristics. Maximum output has been increased from 35kW (48PS)/15,500rpm to 34kW (46PS)/16,000rpm, resulting in a higher rotational speed. Ram air pressure output has also been increased from 36kW (49PS)/15,500rpm to 35kW (48PS)/16,000rpm.

The maximum torque has also been slightly changed from 22Nm (2.2kgf・m) / 12,500rpm to 21Nm (2.1kgf・m) / 12,500rpm. These changes are in line with the change in catalyst specifications, and aim to improve environmental performance.

The coloring and graphics have also been completely renewed, with a new metallic matte graphite gray x metallic spark black color scheme being adopted.

Improved fuel efficiency

Fuel consumption has also been improved, with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s reported value (60km/h constant speed fuel consumption value) increasing from 24.6km/L to 25.1km/L, while the WMTC mode value has increased from 18.7km/L to 18.1km/L.

Features of the top model “Ninja ZX-25RR”

The Ninja ZX-25RR is a higher grade model based on the SE model, with more equipment added. It is priced at 1,052,700 yen, which is about 38,000 yen higher than the SE model.

The biggest feature is that it comes standard with a Showa BFRC-lite rear shock absorber, which increases rear wheel travel from 116mm to 122mm, providing better suspension performance.

The bike is painted in a vibrant lime green and features exclusive graphics with the “RR” logo. It comes standard with all the equipment of the SE model except for the USB power socket, smoked windshield, and frame sliders.

The appeal of the 249cc inline 4-cylinder engine

Both models are equipped with a 249cc inline 4-cylinder engine that is a high-revving unit that can reach 16,000 rpm. The water-cooled, 4-stroke, inline 4-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve engine has a bore and stroke of 50.0mm x 31.8mm and a compression ratio of 12.5:1, making it a high-performance design.

The sensual exhaust sound that plays as the engine speed rises is the true joy of this screaming inline-four. Maximum power output of 34kW (46PS) is produced at 16,000rpm, and maximum torque of 21Nm (2.1kgf-m) is generated at 12,500rpm.

A comprehensive rider support system

Both models come standard with KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter). KQS is a system that allows shifting up and down without operating the clutch, greatly improving convenience during sporty riding.

The instrument panel uses a 4.3-inch full-digital TFT color LCD display, allowing you to check various information on the large, highly visible display.

Lightweight and highly rigid body with trellis frame

The chassis uses a trellis frame, resulting in a lightweight body with a vehicle weight of 184 kg. The front and rear suspensions are telescopic (inverted, inner tube diameter 37 mm) and swing arm (horizontal back link) at the rear.

The brake system is a single disc at the front and rear, with a front diameter of 310mm and a rear diameter of 220mm. The 17-inch wheels are fitted with 110/70R17 tires in the front and 150/60R17 tires in the rear.

Standard grade to be discontinued in the 2026 model

One thing to note is that the Ninja ZX-25R (standard) is not planned for the 2026 model. The lineup will be limited to just two grades, SE and RR, and will be focused on the more fully equipped models.

Both models are produced for the Japanese market at Kawasaki Motors Enterprise (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (KMT), an overseas plant, and supplied as vehicles equipped with ABS. The vehicles are eligible for motorcycle recycling, and the price includes motorcycle recycling costs.

The planned release date is Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and the publication of the catalogue will be announced separately. As a super sports model that allows you to fully enjoy the appeal of the 249cc in-line four-cylinder engine, it is likely to attract the attention of many riders.
