Nicot Moto Korak ADV140…360,000 yen (including consumption tax)

Recently, a number of unique and attractive bikes have been arriving from Asia. The Nicot Moto Korak ADV140 that we will be introducing today is one such bike. It is a mini adventure bike equipped with a 140cc engine. What is it like to ride it? We decided to take it for a test ride on a kart course.

Mini bike with a 140cc engine

Nicot Moto is a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer that started in 2014. Initially, they manufactured parts and accessories, but they brought in engineers from Europe to improve their technical capabilities. They have now grown rapidly into a manufacturer that develops everything from engines to motorcycle bodies in-house.

The Korak ADV140 we’re introducing today is a mini adventure model from Nicot Moto. It features a 140cc engine manufactured in-house on a small 12-inch chassis. The biggest advantage of this bike is that it has the displacement of a light motorcycle at this size. We’re curious to see just how powerful it will be.

Although the body is small, no corners have been cut when it comes to riding functionality. It is a mini adventure model that is fully equipped with features such as an inverted fork, a single shock absorber at the rear, and hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear.

Powerful engine

The engine starts right up with the starter. Once it warms up, it’s a very exciting feeling to race against. The response is good, and the exhaust sound is like that of a racing machine (though it’s a little loud). You can imagine a lively ride even before you start driving, and it makes you excited.

Because the body is light, starting acceleration is powerful even without increasing the revolutions. At low revolutions, the response is gentle and easy to handle, and even when the revolutions are reduced, it persists without any jerks.

But it’s not just easy to handle. Once it passes 4000 rpm, it suddenly becomes lively and accelerates sharply. It easily surpasses the 8500 rpm rev limit and revs easily up to around 9000 rpm. Even at high revolutions, it is smooth without any sudden increases in vibration. The specs are modest at 6.8 hp/7500 rpm and maximum torque of 9.7 Nm/5500 rpm, but it feels incredibly lively.

It doesn’t have the extreme power of a high-tuned engine, but when you open the throttle, it accelerates smoothly and with a fair amount of force. This feeling is unique, and is probably something you can only get from the Korak ADV140, which has a large engine in a small body. In addition to the wide power band, the transmission crosses over nicely, making it very easy to drive on the kart course, and it’s an engine that makes it fun to attack.

There’s no doubt that the dual nature of this engine is what makes the Korak ADV140 so appealing. You can use it in the easy-to-handle low-speed range for street riding and touring (it has enough torque for a small bike even at low revolutions), and enjoy the excitement of high revolutions on winding roads. Although we didn’t drive on the highway during this test ride, it seemed like it would be sufficient for short trips.

Possibilities born from the small size of the car

The body and suspension are solid enough to run on the course without any problems. The suspension spring rate is just right and the damping seems to be just right. The handling is straightforward, so it’s fun to attack the course. This time, I was using new block tires and the road temperature was very low, so I kept the pace to a moderate level, but I would like to try running with 12-inch high-grip tires. There is a possibility that some aspects will be lacking if you attack the course in earnest, but it would also be fun to address these issues by customizing the car.

One thing that bothered me while riding was the braking performance. The front brake in particular feels too stiff. As it is, when I increase my pace, I end up grabbing the lever hard, which makes it difficult to control precisely. The fact that it’s a new bike and I haven’t had a good feel for it may have some bearing on the braking performance, but the feel is a different matter. I’d like to try making the master cylinder a little smaller.

Although there were some issues, it was a more complete and interesting bike than I expected. However, I think the greatest appeal of the Korak ADV140 isn’t its performance or finish, but the new possibilities it offers thanks to its compact body and 140cc engine. Off-road riders will enjoy touring on forest roads and abandoned trails, traveling on the highway. While it lacks the off-road capabilities of a full-fledged off-road bike, its compact size, easy-to-reach body, and excellent suspension should be a valuable asset on tough sections. It’s

also comfortable to ride, making it perfect for everyday city riding, touring, and riding on minibike courses. While maintenance costs may be slightly higher than a Class 2 moped, the range of uses is greatly expanded.

Position & foot grounding (height 178cm, weight)

The riding position will likely feel different depending on the rider’s build and riding style. For the tester’s height, it felt like the knees had to bend a little tight. In addition, the handlebars are positioned low, so when making turns or U-turns, you have to consciously spread your legs apart or your knees will hit the handlebars. However, when riding normally, it doesn’t feel cramped, and there were no problems even after riding for several hours. The ride was also comfortable.

If it were my bike, I would like the handlebars to be positioned a little higher. Although the load on the front will be reduced, this can be adjusted by the riding style and seating position, which also contributes to the enjoyment of riding. It might also be a good idea to make the sponge on the seat a little thicker in addition to the handlebars.

The bike is small, so it’s easy to reach the ground with your feet. It’s light, so you won’t have any trouble supporting the bike.

The up-type muffler produces a racing machine-like exhaust sound. The power of the bike when it’s running is not that of a minibike. The exhaust sound is loud.

The front wheel is a 12-inch wire spoke wheel. The tire size is 130/70-12 and it is fitted with a semi-block tire.

Steps are used that are designed for off-road driving.

The rear shock is single. It operates well and has just the right amount of damping. It’s easy to ride on the street or on a kart course.

The rear carrier is very convenient for touring, and it is also easy to install a tail box or other accessories.

The left switch box houses the blinker, light up/down, and horn buttons. You can also see the chuck lever used for starting the bike when it’s cold.

The right switch box houses the kill switch, starter, and light switch.

The handlebars are low pipe handlebars. Larger riders may want to place them a little higher.

The taillights are embedded under the seat, and the small turn signals are ideal for off-road riding, meaning they are unlikely to be damaged even if the bike falls over.

The two vertical headlights are unique.

The meter is an LCD display, with the RPM displayed in dots and the speed displayed digitally.

The seat is larger than that of a moped and is comfortable to ride in. The seat covers the tank, giving you more freedom when riding off-road.

The battery and documents are stored under the seat.
