New 150cc class hybrid

Yamaha has unveiled the new FZ-S Fi Hybrid for the Indian market, which is garnering attention as the first bike in the 150cc class to feature hybrid technology.
While inheriting the sporty design of the previous FZ series, it incorporates the latest technology to provide a more efficient and comfortable riding experience.
Hybrid system details

The FZ-S Fi Hybrid’s greatest feature is its hybrid system, centered around the Smart Motor Generator (SMG). Connected directly to the crankshaft, the SMG not only enables quiet and smooth engine starts, but also assists the engine at low speeds and during acceleration by using power from the battery. This improves fuel efficiency and enables smoother acceleration. The vehicle is also equipped with an idle-stop function, which automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped and restarts it instantly by operating the clutch, reducing fuel consumption.
The engine is a 149cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine that produces a maximum power output of 12.4 PS at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Combined with a 5-speed transmission, it provides smooth acceleration and stable driving performance.
The FZ-S Fi Hybrid features a design that takes aerodynamics into consideration. The fuel tank has a muscular and powerful appearance, bringing a sense of unity to the overall styling. The position and shape of the handlebars have also been optimized to improve comfort during long-distance rides. The front LED turn signals are integrated into the fake air intakes, creating a sophisticated look.
The body dimensions are 2,000mm in length, 780mm in width, 1,080mm in height, 1,330mm in wheelbase, 790mm in seat height, 165mm in ground clearance, and the vehicle weight is 138kg. The fuel tank capacity is 13 liters, making it suitable for long-distance driving.
The bike is equipped with a 282mm disc brake (with single-channel ABS) at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear, providing reliable stopping power. The front suspension is a telescopic fork and the rear suspension is a 7-way adjustable Monocross suspension, providing both a comfortable ride and sporty handling.
Equipped with smartphone connect function

Equipped with a 4.2-inch TFT color display, it can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth for turn-by-turn navigation and music control. Additionally, by using Yamaha’s Y-Connect app, a variety of functions can be used, including phone notifications and display of riding data.
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid maintains the design and riding performance of the conventional FZ series, while incorporating hybrid technology and the latest electronic equipment to provide a more efficient and comfortable riding experience. Now available in the Indian market, its innovative technology and equipment are expected to set new standards in the future motorcycle market.
