Honda introduces a new electric motorcycle! “CUV e:” delivers quiet and clean transportation

Honda is taking on a new challenge by releasing the CUV e:, a two-wheeled electric personal commuter scooter. The price is 528,000 yen (tax included), which includes two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: replaceable batteries and two chargers. The planned annual sales volume is a limited 700 units.

A simple and sophisticated urban EV commuter

The CUV e: is a two-seater electric motorcycle developed to enable clean and quiet urban mobility. It features a simple and clean exterior design and is available in three colors (Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Premium Silver Metallic) that express a modern and sophisticated appearance.

The front features full LED lighting that creates the iconic look of the CUV e:. This not only increases safety when driving at night, but also contributes to visibility. The overall design has a stylish form that eliminates unnecessary elements, creating an urban image.

Honda’s proprietary EV system

The power unit uses a motor developed in-house by Honda, which has been made highly efficient by optimizing the magnetic circuit and structure, achieving a maximum output of 8.2ps (6.0kW) that is both powerful and easy to handle.

The vehicle is powered by two replaceable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries. With a full charge, it can travel 57km (test value at 60km/h on a flat ground), ensuring ample range for everyday use such as commuting to work or school or shopping. The batteries are located under the seat and are designed to be replaceable.

Furthermore, it is equipped with three riding modes that allow you to select output characteristics according to riding conditions and your preferences. You can choose from “STANDARD mode,” “SPORT mode,” and “ECON mode,” and enjoy the smooth and comfortable riding feel that is characteristic of Honda electric motorcycles.

Additionally, it also features a “reverse mode” that uses the motor to assist reverse travel, a practical feature that reduces the burden of vehicle operation when turning in narrow spaces or on slopes.

Connected features enable smart mobility

The CUV e: is the first to feature Honda’s unique connected technology, Honda RoadSync Duo®. By linking the vehicle with a smartphone, it is possible to operate the navigation system using the multi-selection switch on the steering wheel, make hands-free calls using a separately sold headset, and play music.

The navigation function can also search for routes that stop at battery exchange stations depending on the remaining battery power (limited to some areas), enhancing the convenience that is unique to electric motorcycles.

This information is displayed on a 7.0-inch TFT full-color LCD meter. The time displayed on the meter is automatically corrected using GPS.

Numerous features to enhance practicality

The CUV e: achieves compact, easy-to-handle body packaging by efficiently arranging key components and concentrating heavy objects near the center of gravity. The ample seat space and flat floor space ensure a riding position with a high degree of freedom.

For safety, Honda’s unique combined brake system distributes braking force appropriately between the front and rear wheels, and the front is equipped with a disc brake, providing reliable braking power.

As a convenient feature, the Honda SMART Key system is standard equipment, which is convenient for turning on the main switch and unlocking the seat. A luggage box is located under the seat where small items can be stored. The inside of the front is equipped with a convenience store hook where you can hang shopping bags, etc., and an inner box with a lid that has a USB socket (Type-C) that is convenient for charging smartphones, etc.
