The new Panigale V2, the lightest model ever, finally debuts

The new Panigale V2, which Ducati has finally announced, is a groundbreaking model that will be the lightest ever Panigale. Rather than being derived from a conventional large superbike, this new model was designed completely from scratch and is 17 kg lighter than its predecessor.

The new Panigale V2 “S” version has an astonishingly light weight of just 177.6 kg (excluding fuel) . This weight reduction makes it much easier to handle in all situations, including circuit riding, commuting, city riding, and touring.

The power of the revolutionary 890cc V-twin engine

The newly developed V-twin engine mounted on the new Panigale V2 has a displacement of 890cc but weighs just 54.5kg , making it the lightest V-twin engine in Ducati’s history.

It is up to 9 kg lighter than the conventional Superquadro engine, and approximately 5.8 kg lighter than the Testastretta Evoluzione and Desmodue engines used in the Scrambler, achieving a significant weight reduction.

Ducati’s traditional 90° V-twin layout

The new 90° V-twin unit continues the tradition of Ducati sports engines, featuring the slim design, distinctive sound and powerful power that are characteristic of V-engines.

The 90° layout eliminates the need for a balancer shaft to eliminate vibrations, naturally canceling out first-order vibrations, resulting in a smoother riding feel.

Excellent driving performance achieved through cutting-edge technology

Intake Variable Valve Timing Control (IVT) system

The new Panigale V2 is fitted with an Intake Variable Valve Timing (IVT) system, which delivers extremely linear torque even at low revs, resulting in an immediate and exciting throttle response.

At higher engine speeds, the engine offers sportier performance.The IVT system achieves this by varying the intake valve timing over a 52° range via a timing actuator mounted on the camshaft end.

Sporty design inherited from the Panigale V4

The new Panigale V2 inherits the design elements of the Panigale V4 while achieving a more compact and sophisticated style. It cuts through the air with a voluminous, flowing line, perfectly blending the aggressive design and elegant style that are characteristic of Ducati supersport bikes.

This relaxed and dynamic style reduces the load on the front and highlights the compactness of the new V2 engine.

Lightweight design improves driving performance

During development testing, the new Panigale V2 has proven to be just as fast on the track as its predecessor, and this superior performance is thanks to a combination of a 17kg weight saving , a lighter and more modern chassis, new ergonomics and a high-torque engine.

In the saddle, the rider is comfortable from the first corner and the reduced effort required makes it easier to push their limits. This ease of riding is something that has never been seen on a V2 before.

Innovative chassis design with monocoque structure

The new Panigale V2 chassis uses a monocoque structure that doubles as a frame and airbox, and by using the V2 engine as a structural element, it has achieved a compact and lightweight solution.

The double-sided swingarm was designed with inspiration from the Panigale V4’s hollow symmetrical swingarm, allowing riders to fully utilize the latest slick tire concepts, such as stability when exiting corners and feeling when riding on a circuit.

The new Panigale V2 can be fitted with the same size tires as those used in the Supersport World Championship without any modifications.
