Royal Enfield Bear 650…990,000 yen

Royal Enfield has announced that it will be introducing the new Scrambler “Bear 650” to the Japanese market. It will be on sale at authorized Royal Enfield dealers from April onwards. The price will start from 990,000 yen (tax included).

Inspired by 1960s racing

This model was inspired by Eddie Mulder’s victory at the 1960 Big Bear Run in California and was developed based on the INT 650. The Bear 650 combines the style and passion of a heritage scrambler and is equipped with a 650cc parallel twin engine to provide an intuitive riding feel. In Japan, it will be available at authorized Royal Enfield dealers from April onwards, with the manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting from 990,000 yen (tax included).

The Bear 650 reflects the style of Eddie Mulder, the youngest champion at the 1960 Big Bear Run, and combines robust engineering with the unique beauty of a scrambler. This model stimulates riders’ intuition and self-expression, inviting them to embark on new adventures.

Anuj Dua, Head of Asia Pacific Markets, Royal Enfield, said: “Royal Enfield is known for its motorcycles with a rich heritage and unique appeal. The Bear 650 is inspired by the legend of Eddie Mulder, born at the 1960 Big Bear Run, and embodies the spirit and DNA of an authentic scrambler.”

The engine has increased torque

The Bear 650 is equipped with a 650cc parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces a maximum output of 47 bhp (34.6 kW) at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 56.5 Nm at 5,150 rpm. Compared to other twin models, it has improved power in the mid-range, and the 2-into-1 exhaust system enhances torque, creating a wide power band. The compact single silencer reduces weight and enhances the Scrambler’s aesthetics.

In terms of design, it incorporates original Scrambler elements such as thick tires with a retro feel, square tread blocks, a scrambler seat, a 2-into-1 exhaust system, a rear loop, a competition number board, and high ground clearance. Five striking color schemes inspired by California’s vibrant culture are available, embodying the spirit and style of California desert racing in the 1960s.

The Bear 650 features a robust chassis and is equipped with a Showa USD Big Piston fork with 130mm of travel in the front and a Showa twin-tube RSU with 115mm of travel in the rear. With a minimum ground clearance of 184mm and a combination of 19-inch front and 17-inch rear dual-purpose tires, it achieves the look and grip of a full-fledged scrambler, and also has the ability to handle light off-roading.

Introducing the latest UI

The latest equipment includes a new TFT display called the Tripper Dash, which has a simple user interface and operability that allows information to be easily checked while on the move. The black aluminum switch cubes and joystick enable smooth and intuitive operation of the Tripper Dash.

Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle brand and has been creating beautiful motorcycles since its founding in 1901. It is known for its unique and distinctive modern classic bikes. With a manufacturing base in Chennai, India, Royal Enfield offers exciting and attractive motorcycles to riders all over the world.
