This visit was ahead of the FIM Trial des Nations, which will be held in Spain from September 20th to 22nd, 2024, and the FIM Motocross of Nations, which will be held in the UK from October 4th to 6th, 2024, and Japanese national team riders competing in each event visited the event and spoke to the Deputy Director about their aspirations for the tournament.
The five riders who visited were two who will be competing in the “FIM Trial des Nations” (Ogawa Tsuyoshi and Kuroyama Jin) and three who will be competing in the “FIM Motocross of Nations” (Yokoyama Haruki, Okura Yuki, and Oshiro Kainosuke).
Regarding the visit and the athletes, Deputy Director Terakado said, “Every field is concerned with how to increase the number of people participating in sports. As was the case with the Paris Olympics, showing children the success of athletes and inspiring them to aspire to them is an important part of increasing the number of people participating in sports.”
“I sincerely hope that they will fully demonstrate their daily training and return to Japan with brilliant results,” said Deputy Director Terakado.
The FIM also believes that appealing to children is a good way to increase the number of people taking part in motorbike motorsports. While it is important to let children experience the bikes firsthand, it will be more impressive if the riders enjoy the competition and achieve impressive results with cool actions.
For children, playing in the mountains is a form of recreation. Trials, the closest motorsport to trials, is a motorcycle race and can also be considered a form of playing in the mountains. It is perhaps a more appealing sport than circuit racing.
