The RSV4, which debuted in 2012, is a supersport model that remains Aprilia’s flagship. The first model had a displacement of 999.6cc to comply with the World Superbike Championship regulations. In 2019, the displacement was increased to 1,078cc, and the model name was changed to “RSV4 1100.” In 2021, the displacement was increased to 1,099cc, and the name was changed back to “RSV4.”

The “Factory” version is a high-end model positioned as a factory specification (works specification). It is tuned for the “ultimate circuit driving” by including an Ohlins electronically controlled semi-active suspension as standard equipment.

The new 2025 models of both bikes have undergone major changes to the cowlings, engines, and electronic controls. The 2025 models have a bold layout reminiscent of a MotoGP machine, with a thin main wing extending from under the headlight to the left and right, and a sub-wing connected to the main wing from the upper rear with an end plate.

Developed based on MotoGP racing data, this new wing features a complex design that generates powerful downforce, while the updated fairing reduces air resistance and suppresses wheelies.

The same water-cooled, 4-stroke, 65° V-type, 4-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve, 1,099cc engine as the previous model complies with the European exhaust gas regulations “Euro 5+ (Plus)”. This engine is combined with a new throttle body with an inner diameter of 52mm. In addition, by optimizing the exhaust system, maximum output has been increased from 217ps/13,000rpm to 220ps/13,100rpm. Maximum torque is 125N・m/10,800rpm.

The new model incorporates a variety of advanced electronic control systems with improved predictive accuracy. The combination of a 6-axis inertia unit, cornering ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire electronic throttle, wheelie control, engine brake control, engine map, etc. further improves controllability and enables precise riding.

The new model features an electronic gearbox that allows for ultra-fast gear changes without closing the throttle or using the clutch. It also features a downshift function that allows downshifts without engaging the clutch, and even with the throttle open.

The Brembo front brake caliper has been changed from the existing Stylema to the lightweight and powerful Hypure caliper, improving braking power and stability during braking.

The RSV4 Factory, the top grade of the RSV4, features the Öhlins electronically controlled semi-active Smart EC2.0 suspension, which can be adjusted for each corner. It also features support functions specifically for circuit racing, such as launch control and a pit limiter. Auxiliary headlights that illuminate the inside of corners when cornering are also standard equipment.

Is the top-of-the-line supersport bike easy to use outside the circuit? | Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory test ride report

The editorial staff always ask me to do something unreasonable. The Aprilia RSV4 Factory, with its 1100cc V4 and over 200 horsepower, is a bike that really shines on the circuit, but they want me to take it for a thorough test ride around town. Just because you own a bike doesn’t mean you’ll only be riding it on the circuit, so everyday usability is certainly important. So, what should I do? *This is a test ride report of the 2019 model.
