In March 1998, the Steed VLS was released as an additional model to the popular Steed, which boasted the powerful, pulsating ride characteristic of its four-stroke V-twin engine and a relaxed, comfortable ride. The Steed VLS is an authentic American model released to mark the 10th anniversary of the Steed’s birth.
Equipped with a water-cooled, 4-stroke, V-twin, SOHC, 3-valve, 398cc engine, the vehicle boasts a unique styling that surpasses that of conventional Steeds, including a springer front fork with a classic appearance that adds a custom touch, a large 21-inch front tire, and a special flangeless fuel tank with a sleek appearance that hides the seam at the bottom of the tank.
Furthermore, compared to the previous Steed series, the VLS has been lowered, resulting in a low and relaxed styling. The ground clearance has been lowered by 10mm to 130mm, and the seat height has been lowered to 650mm, providing excellent foot reach. High-quality parts such as small-diameter Bates-type headlights are incorporated throughout, further enhancing the custom-made atmosphere.
The photo shows a 1/12 scale plastic model of the Steed VLS, which exudes an American taste. The springer fork is intricately and realistically crafted, and the stem and axle use metal screws. The throttle cable and brake hose are made of vinyl pipe.
