Special Parts Takegawa is a long-established motorcycle parts manufacturer famous for its “4-stroke mini customizations” of the Monkey, Gorilla, Dax, etc. The pictured “The Bike No. 71 1/12 Honda Z50J Gorilla ’78 Custom Takegawa Specification Ver. 1” is a 1/12 scale plastic model reproduction of a Honda Gorilla Custom customized using parts from the company.
The Honda Gorilla was released in 1978 as the “big brother of the Monkey.” It featured a design concept different from the Monkey, with a large-capacity 9L square gas tank, fixed up-type handlebars, and a thick seat. Production ended in 1988, but it was revived in 1998 with a 12V engine.
The plastic model in the photo is based on the white color version that was released in 2001, and has been lightly tuned with special Takegawa parts such as 8-inch aluminum wheels of the same diameter as the standard, a down muffler, an oil catch tank, and an oil cooler.
To enhance the texture, carefully selected materials are used in each part, such as rubber tires and vinyl pipes for the wires.
