Introducing the new evolved “EVO” specification
Suzuki has announced the evolution of the Series 8, the GSX-8R EVO and GSX-8S EVO, in Europe. While the two models share a common technological base, they each have distinct styles that express their own unique personalities. Both are equipped with a 776cc parallel twin-cylinder DOHC engine, and Suzuki’s unique cross-balancer mechanism provides excellent balance and a smooth rotation feel. They deliver a maximum output of 83 PS and a maximum torque of 78 Nm, and are mated to a 6-speed transmission with a bidirectional quickshifter, enabling smooth and agile acceleration.
The equipment is modern and highly refined, with an aluminum swingarm, inverted front forks, full LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT color display, and more. Furthermore, the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) electronic control system supports the rider. It integrates advanced technologies such as throttle-by-wire control, traction control, a 3-mode riding map, low-rev assist, and a quick shifter to provide optimal control in any riding situation.
GSX-8R EVO | A pure sports car with the soul of an “R”
The GSX-8R EVO is a model that emphasizes the sportier character of the Series 8. The sleek yet aggressive cowl design symbolizes Suzuki’s racing DNA, while the sharp headlight and forward-leaning riding position create a sense of tension befitting the “R” name.
The suspension uses an adjustable unit made by Showa, which improves cornering stability and front load control, allowing the car to precisely trace the intended line on everything from circuit driving to winding roads.
As an exclusive feature for the EVO, an Akrapovic sports muffler is fitted as standard, which produces a sensual exhaust sound and contributes to weight reduction. In addition, the monopost cover creates a racy rear view, and the tank pad features exclusive graphics.
The result is an “enhanced driving experience” that goes beyond being a simple special specification, elevating the Series 8R to an even more pure sports machine.
GSX-8S EVO | A balanced bike that dominates the streets
Meanwhile, the GSX-8S EVO is a naked model in the Series 8 series, perfectly blending everyday use with sporty performance. Its edgy design and massive tank line create a powerful street fighter look, while the handlebar position and seat height are designed with comfort in mind. This reduces fatigue even during long rides, making it versatile for everything from city riding to touring.
The 776cc engine is equipped with a linear response and torque feeling according to the throttle opening. By switching between the SIRS modes, it responds immediately to the rider’s intentions, from smooth cruising to aggressive acceleration. The EVO specification is equipped with an Akrapovic muffler, monopost cover, and special tank pad, just like the GSX-8R, making it a bike that combines style and performance.
EVO shows Suzuki’s “update style”
The introduction of the EVO specification is not just an exterior upgrade. Suzuki places importance on “combining sensibility and functionality.” The adoption of an Akrapovic muffler stimulates the senses in terms of sound while simultaneously achieving weight reduction and improved performance. Furthermore, the monopost cover encourages focus on riding, creating a strong sporty overall impression.
Since its introduction, the Series 8 has garnered support in the mid-class for its “Suzuki-like ease of riding” and “high level of perfection.” Based on that mature platform, the EVO series, which has been further infused with refinement and passion, is an invitation to the next stage for both sports riders and street riders.
