Sleek and sharp graphics that rise up to the rear

This system helmet features a face cover (chin guard) that can be flipped up high, combining the security of a full-face helmet with the freedom of an open-face helmet when parked. SHOEI has been improving its system helmets for over 30 years since releasing its unique system helmet, the J-ACTOR, in the 1990s. The NEOTEC 3 is a system helmet equipped with SHOEI’s latest technology, released in December 2023.

The new pattern “ANTHEM” being added this time features high-speed and impactful graphics that evoke the wind flowing around the helmet at high speeds. Also, considering the name “anthem” (national anthem/hymn), it also looks like a fluttering national flag. The inherent convenience of a system helmet and dynamic graphics seem to suit large tourers and large scooters that excel at high speeds.

Greatly improved comfort and durability

SHOEI’s latest system helmet, the NEOTEC 3, is a new-generation system helmet that combines advanced functionality, comfort, and safety. Its simple yet sophisticated design is packed with functionality that can be used in a variety of riding situations.

The new helmet body pursues airtightness. It adopts a design in which the face cover and other parts are seamlessly connected to the shell. After repeated testing in our large wind tunnel testing facility, we have found that by covering the surfaces adjacent to the face cover with the side covers when the face cover is fully closed, the gap with the face cover is minimized, reducing the intrusion of wind and rain. This shape is effective in improving airtightness, which is particularly required for system helmets with movable face cover parts.

The interior has also been significantly improved. First of all, the cheek pads have been extended further back than the previous model, reducing the gap around the neck, and combined with the noise isolator that covers the area under the chin, they effectively prevent wind from entering through the opening. In addition, the area of the cheek pads that come into contact with the cheeks has been expanded, providing a soft fit from the cheeks to the neck, providing a comfortable and secure hold.

The center pad has a pocket-style top, allowing for fine-tuning of the fit using optional adjustment pads if it feels too tight on the front, back, left, or right of the head. The interior surface fabric uses a hybrid of moisture-wicking and quick-drying fabric in areas prone to sweating, and soft, brushed fabric in areas that rub against the skin when putting on and taking off the helmet, improving comfort.

The air intake, which directly affects comfort, has also been improved. The upper intake is simple and matches the shell design, and is easy to operate even with thick gloves. The top outlet uses a highly efficient shape for exhaust, which was derived through testing in the company’s large wind tunnel testing facility. This achieves highly efficient ventilation. In addition to the defroster function, the lower air intake can be fitted with the newly designed breath guard included, which allows some of the intake air to be directed towards the mouth, reducing the feeling of breathlessness in hot weather.

The face cover (chin guard) has also been improved with a simple and reliable locking mechanism. While the locking mechanism for when the face cover is fully open is inherited from NEOTEC II, it can now be secured in two stages. The first stage is suitable for putting on and taking off a helmet, while the second stage provides a strong holding force that prevents the face cover from closing even when working while wearing a helmet. By improving the face cover base without adding any additional parts, the locking mechanism has improved functionality while minimizing weight increases. The face cover’s rotation axis is eccentric, preventing interference with the shell and other parts when opening and closing. When fully closed, the face cover is pulled toward the shell, improving airtightness.

The shield is equipped with the CNS-3C shield, which uses a center lock system, and is part of the CNS-3 shield system, which is designed to be optimized for system helmets. The distinctive shape of the shield’s upper part, which folds toward the shell, prevents wind and rain from entering, and combined with the adoption of the center lock system, optimizes the balance of adhesion with the window rubber when the shield is fully closed. This achieves a high level of sealing. In addition, the ribs on the top and bottom of the shield increase rigidity, while the tab is positioned in the center to reduce deflection when opening and closing, making opening and closing the shield smoother.

The highly convenient inner sun visor, which can instantly switch to a smoked shade depending on the riding environment, has also been retained from the previous model. The NEOTEC 3 is equipped with a QSV-2 sun visor that is 5mm longer vertically than the previous QSV-1 sun visor, blocking sunlight over a wider area. The sun visor, which meets European sunglasses standards, provides a clear view with minimal distortion and has an operating mechanism that uses a strong wire for smooth opening and closing.

In addition, there have been improvements to the “SHOEI COMLINK,” which allows for smooth installation of SHOEI-specified communication systems, and a new, more compact and lightweight micro ratchet chin strap, and other refinements have been made to the finer details.
