The legendary Honda CB400FOUR, a 398cc model first released in 1976 (Showa 54), is now available as a complete bike series (the varnish blue was used on the original 408cc version, but not on the 398cc version; the photo only reproduces the color pattern).
The bike’s distinctive silhouette has been faithfully reproduced, including its distinctive color pattern, wheel shape, and the 4-into-1 exhaust system, which has been called a work of art. The frame and tank are made of realistic die-cast, resulting in a high-level form with a sense of weight and texture.

It’s normal for a good bike to cost several million yen! What is the super rare vintage model “Honda CB400FOUR” worth over 10 million yen?

The first-generation Honda Dream CB400FOUR, a 408cc version, was released in 1974. The side color is the same as the gas tank. The handlebars are flat.

Another feature of the Yonfour is its beautiful collective muffler, which has been called a “work of art.”

The photo shows the bike in Light Ruby Red. The 408cc version also has a Light Ruby Red side color (the 398cc version has black).

The Honda Dream CB400FOUR was a pioneering model equipped with a four-cylinder engine in the 400cc class, released in December 1974. The Dream CB400FOUR, also known as the “Yon-Four” due to its beautifully integrated muffler, is still revered as a legendary model. On the used car market, it’s common to see it fetch several million yen, with top-quality examples commanding over 10 million yen, making it a truly treasured model.
The first generation’s engine was an air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, in-line 4-cylinder, 408cc. In 1975 (Showa 50), the year after its release, the driver’s license system was revised, and motorcycle licenses were classified into small-sized licenses under 125cc, medium-sized licenses under 400cc, and unrestricted licenses for over 400cc. In response to this, the 398cc models “CB400FOUR-I” and “CB400FOUR-II” were released in 1976 (Showa 51) (the “Dream” name was dropped).
The 398cc model, which can be ridden with a medium-sized license, keeps the bore diameter (51.0mm) the same, but the stroke has been shortened from 50.0mm to 48.8mm. The key point is that it is a high-revving short-stroke type that increases engine speed to gain power. As a result, maximum output has been reduced from 37ps/8,500rpm to 36ps/8,500rpm, and maximum torque has been reduced from 3.2kg-m/7,500rpm to 3.1kg-m/7,500rpm.
The left and right side covers on the 408cc version were the same color as the fuel tank, but on the 398cc version they are blacked out. The tank color continues to be the popular Light Ruby Red. The Varnish Blue color has been discontinued for the 398cc version, and a new color, Parakeet Yellow, has been added.
The CB400FOUR-I has a continental feel and features flat handlebars that allow for sporty riding, including cornering, while the CB400FOUR-II has an orthodox style that is suitable for long touring and features standard handlebars that are easy to handle at low speeds, such as when riding in urban areas.
