Mini-bike meet and support for Noto Peninsula earthquake recovery

2nd Cub Meeting Autumn “Harami”
The 2nd Autumn Cub Meeting “Harami” was held on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, at Nakagawa Yashio Flower Park in Yashio City, Saitama Prefecture. Following on from the first event held in April this year, this event is a gathering exclusively for minibikes with an engine displacement of 125cc or less, mainly Super Cubs (scooters are also allowed), and also serves as a charity event to support the recovery efforts following the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred in January 2024.

The event was organized by Cafe Harappa, a riders’ cafe operating in Yashio City, and was led by the manager, Takaaki Nozawa, also known as “Rappa-san,” who is a big Cub fan himself, and was realized by a group of friends who admire him. This time, the event will feature stalls such as the well-known windshield manufacturer Asahi Fubo and motorcycle accessories retailer Orion Ace, as well as a full food truck, and is supported by Yashio City and the Yashio City Tourism Association.

On the day, blue-based “Let’s do our best Noto Peninsula” Harami stickers were sold. The color of the sticker was inspired by the “Pearl Bosphorus Blue” that is available as a body color for the C125, and featured the Noto Peninsula and the first-generation Super Cub C100. The stickers were priced at 500 yen each, and all sales, excluding expenses, were donated.

Charity stickers commemorating the event were sold at the venue.
The venue was lined with the owners’ beloved cars.

The entry vehicles, mainly Super Cubs, lined up at the venue. Most of the vehicles were customized to reflect the owner’s tastes.
Unfortunately, it rained from the morning on the day of the event, but as the weather improved, the number of visitors gradually increased. The final number of entries was slightly lower than the previous event’s 386, but the venue was filled with the owners’ proud motorcycles, and participants showed off their machines and looked around at the other entries on display, exchanging information and discussing motorcycles in a lively atmosphere.
The organizers are owners of the 60th Anniversary Super Cub and CT125 Hunter Cub, so the Cubs were prominent among the entered vehicles. However, there were also entries of Honda minibikes such as the Monkey, Dax, Dream50, and CD50, as well as scooters such as the Yamaha Tricity 125.

Among the vehicles entered this time, the ones that particularly caught my eye were the custom Monkeys, one was a Monkey 50 BAJA Africa Twin specification, another was a Monkey 125 BAJA Africa Twin specification (currently in production), and the other was a custom Monkey 125. It seems that they are considering making custom parts for the last vehicle commercially available in the near future.
As you can see, many of the entered vehicles have been customized in some way, and it’s fun just to look around at them. The next event is scheduled for autumn 2025, a year from now. Minimoto fans should definitely come to the third Harami event next year.
