The exterior design follows the image of the R1300GS, the top model of the GS family.
On November 5, 2024, BMW announced its new adventure model, the F450GS Concept, at the EICMA 2024 International Motorcycle Exhibition held in Milan, Italy.
The F450GS is a mid-class model that fills the gap between the youngest model in the GS series, the G310GS, and its bigger brother, the F800GS, and was announced in Europe as a model that can be ridden with an A2 license. The exterior design is reminiscent of the previously released R1300GS, and inherits features such as an X-shaped LED headlight and an aggressive cowl design.

The X-shaped LED headlight has a distinctive look similar to that of the R1300GS.
The engine is not the single-cylinder of the F310GS, but a newly developed water-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine, as the “F” in the name of the bike suggests. A special ignition offset is said to provide a light acceleration and excellent torque at low revolutions. The engine delivers a full 48 hp, in line with the A2 class standard. The use of lightweight materials such as magnesium has resulted in a compact and lightweight engine.

Both the engine and frame have been redesigned from scratch, resulting in a lightweight bike for this class.
The chassis was also redesigned from scratch, with the goal of setting new standards in this segment. Utilizing technology developed in rally and enduro racing, it delivers excellent off-road performance while also providing agile and precise handling on the road. The front forks are adjustable inverted forks, and the rear is equipped with a shock absorber with adjustable damping force. The frame structure has been made lighter while maintaining its strength, resulting in an astonishingly light weight that is close to the A2 class minimum weight requirement of 175 kg.

The front uses an inverted fork, which is adjustable both front and rear and is suitable for off-road riding.
Like its big brother, the R1300GS, it is equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT LCD display and can be connected to a smartphone or various accessories.
A production vehicle based on this concept model is scheduled to be released in 2025. Lightweight forged aluminum wheels are also being considered for the production version, replacing the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels.
