The first-generation “Hayabusa” was released in 1999, followed by the second-generation model in 2007, and the third-generation model was released in April 2021 with a complete overhaul. Based on the “Ultimate Sport” development concept that has continued since the first generation, this flagship model has earned acclaim from users worldwide for its unique aerodynamic design and outstanding riding performance.
The instantly recognizable “Hayabusa” design features a sleek form, bold surfaces, and a forward-leaning stance, resulting in sharp, edgy styling. The body color is a two-tone design with accent colors that differ from the body color on the intakes on both sides of the front face, the body sides, and the rear.
The intake edges also feature turn signals with integrated position lights. The 1,339cm3 inline-four engine employs an electronically controlled throttle and revised intake and exhaust mechanisms to improve power and torque at low and mid-speeds, while maintaining high-speed performance through enhanced aerodynamics. It also complies with Japan’s 2020 (Reiwa 2) emissions regulations. The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) electronic control system features the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-α), which allows users to select from five control levels, including power output, traction control, and engine brake control, as well as an active speed limiter that prevents the vehicle from exceeding a set speed. The wide range of electronic control modes allows the bike to accommodate a variety of riding situations, including city riding and touring, as well as the user’s preferences and skill levels. An ETC2.0 onboard unit is standard equipment, exclusive to Japan, for enhanced convenience when touring.
The “Color Order Plan” (*2) also allows customers to select their preferred exterior color combination and front and rear wheel colors. The “Color Order Plan” allows users to combine three exterior cowl colors, three exterior accent colors, and three wheel colors. Images of all 21 combinations, including the three standard body colors, can be viewed on the “Hayabusa Color Order Plan” site on the Suzuki homepage.
