Shift patterns can be changed like a manual

The newly installed “YECVT (Yamaha Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission)” is a system that electronically controls the CVT gear ratio in response to rider operation. It provides a driving feel similar to that of a manual transmission vehicle, something that was difficult to achieve with conventional mechanical CVTs. Specifically, the pulley gear ratio is precisely controlled by a motor, improving response during acceleration and deceleration. This allows the rider to experience a more direct and linear power transmission, allowing them to enjoy optimal riding depending on the riding situation.
Furthermore, the YECVT is equipped with “Turbo Riding Mode” and “Turbo Y-Shift” functions. In Turbo Riding Mode, two riding modes can be selected: T-mode (town mode) and S-mode (sport mode). T-mode supports comfortable riding in the city, while S-mode supports sporty riding. Turbo Y-Shift allows the rider to select from three acceleration levels during acceleration and deceleration, and the effectiveness of the engine brake can also be adjusted. This allows the rider to fine-tune control to suit their preferences and riding conditions.


Sport-conscious body design

The suspension uses a telescopic fork in the front and a swing arm suspension in the rear to effectively absorb shocks from the road surface. The braking system is equipped with 230mm disc brakes at the front and rear, and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is standard. This provides stable braking force even during sudden braking or on slippery roads, increasing safety.
In terms of design, the car features dual eye projector headlights, LED turn signals, and sophisticated LED taillights, creating a sporty and sophisticated appearance. It also comes equipped with a range of convenient features, including a smart key system, a USB-C power socket, and a new display that can be connected to a smartphone.
The NMAX155 ABS inherits the DNA of the MAX series, which is popular in Europe and Japan, and packs innovative styling and the sporty ride of a 155cc engine that can also be used on highways into a compact body. The newly installed YECVT system will bring a breath of fresh air to the 150cc class of scooters.
