Runs on weekends and holidays for the first time in 40 years

Bikers Paradise Co., Ltd. and Nishiyama Driveway Co., Ltd. will allow motorcycles to travel on the Arashiyama-Takao Parkway in Kyoto City on weekends and holidays for the first time in 40 years, starting March 1, 2025. To commemorate this lifting of the ban, they will be holding an event called “Bikers Paradise in KYOTO” on March 8 and 9 to pray for the safe driving of riders.

The Arashiyama-Takao Parkway is a 10.7km long driveway that connects Kyoto’s tourist attraction, Arashiyama, with the nature-rich Takao. It features an observation deck offering views of the Nishiyama mountain range, Hozukyo Gorge, and Kyoto city, as well as a variety of leisure facilities, including attractions, an amusement park, and a BBQ area. While motorcycle riding on the parkway has been prohibited on weekends and holidays since 1985, the ban will be lifted from March 1, 2025.
The “Bikers Paradise in KYOTO” event will be held from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, March 8th and Sunday, March 9th at the Ogurayama Observatory parking lot on the Arashiyama-Takao Parkway. On the day, Bikers Paradise Minami Hakone will be offering the latest bike rental models, selling limited edition merchandise, and a riders’ cafe. There will also be a talk show by motorcycle journalists Miyazaki Keiichiro and TOMO, and a parade run to pray for safe riding. There will also be a goma ritual for safe riding held by Kiyotaki Fudoin Temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, Daigoji school.
Building on the success of Minami-Hakone, Bikers Paradise plans to continue collaborating with Nishiyama Driveway Co., Ltd. to turn the Arashiyama-Takao Parkway into a new motorcycle communication zone in the Kansai area, which is expected to further develop motorcycle culture in the Kansai region.
