The exterior design is exactly the same as the previous Super Cub 110. A “Super Cub Lite” decal is placed under the emblem.

The “Super Cub Lite Concept,” which complies with the new moped standards, was unveiled at the Honda booth at the 41st Osaka Motorcycle Show, which was held from Friday, March 21st to Sunday, March 23rd.

The new moped standards are based on the “Ministerial Ordinance Partially Amending the Road Transport Vehicle Act Enforcement Regulations,” announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on November 13, 2024. Starting April 1, 2025, “Type 1 mopeds will be newly added to the list of vehicles with a total displacement of over 0.050L but not exceeding 0.125L and a maximum output of 4.0kW or less.” This is a response to the “Reiwa 2 (Reiwa 2) Emissions Regulations” that came into effect in November 2022, which meant that the current 50cc mopeds could no longer pass these regulations. Simply put, the engine displacement will be increased from 50cc or less to 125cc or less, but the power output will remain roughly the same as the previous 50cc mopeds. License plates will be white, and traffic rules will remain the same: a maximum speed of 30km/h, double riding prohibited, and two-stage right turns required at major intersections.

Although the new law will come into effect on April 1st, no new moped models have been announced so far. This is because only Class 1 mopeds were given a three-year grace period to comply with the exhaust gas regulations, so it is likely that new models will be announced by each manufacturer by November. Amid this, the first new moped to be announced is the Super Cub Lite Concept.

The engine also looks exactly the same as the 109cc engine for the Super Cub 110.

The Super Cub 50 used spoke wheels, but now it has the same cast aluminum wheels as the Super Cub 110. This model also does not have the reflective sticker on the front fender, which is a sign that it is a Class 2 moped.

Since it is based on the Super Cub 110, it looks almost identical except for the lack of a passenger step. The engine is also the same as the Super Cub 110, an air-cooled 4-stroke 109cc single-cylinder OHC, with maximum output kept below 4kW (5.4ps). It has only been announced as a concept kart, and the release date has not yet been decided, but it is expected to go on sale in the near future. A scooter type is already in development, so the new moped lineup will likely be announced by autumn.

The Super Cub 50 Final Edition will be the last 50cc model. Reservations have already closed, so it’s only available in store.
