Yoshimura SERT Motul team lineup announcement for 2025. Director Kato, Kokoro Atsumi, and suppliers.

Yoshimura Japan exhibited at the 52nd Tokyo Motorcycle Show, held from March 28th to 30th. At a conference on the 28th, Team Director and President Yohei Kato announced the Yoshimura SERT Motul team’s 2025 participation structure. “Last year, in 2024, Yoshimura SERT Motul stood on the podium in every race of the World Endurance Championship and won two 24-hour endurance races to take the championship. This year, with the same structure as 2024, we will be riding the Suzuki GSX-R1000R with Greg Brack, Etienne Masson, Dan Linfoot, and our Japanese test rider, Kokoro Atsumi, and we hope to defend our title this year, the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R series.” Kokoro Atsumi, who had just returned from Malaysia, was also at the event and commented: “This year I will be the fourth rider for Yoshimura SERT Motul and also a development rider, helping to support the team as they strive for a second consecutive victory. However, after discussing it with Kato, I have decided to race in the Superstock class with the team to increase my riding opportunities.”

The participating machine will be the GSX-R1000R, as in last year. The 2025 specification is currently under development.

Atsumi Kokoro is the only Japanese rider who also works as a development rider.

At the same time, Yoshimura has further evolved its “Suzuki Oil-Cooled Reproduction Project,” which it has been focusing on since last year, and launched it as the Heritage Parts Project. Last year, Yoshimura made waves by creating a replica of the GSX-R750 #604, which competed in the AMA Superbike Championship in 1986. Yoshimura is currently developing replacement parts, such as pistons and other engine parts and cowlings, that are no longer available as genuine parts, as genuine-part compatible parts. It was also announced that the replica of #604, which was unveiled last year, will be sold as a complete machine. It will be sold through an auction-style bid, with a minimum vehicle price of 6,040,000 yen (excluding tax). The bidding period is scheduled to begin around June. Legendary rider Satoshi Tsujimoto, who competed in the AMA on the original #604, also attended the event. He spoke about the Heritage Parts Project: “I’m so happy. I also own an oil-cooled GSX-R, so I’m really happy that the parts are being resold. I feel like I can finally ride it with peace of mind (laughs).”

The GSX-R1000R, which will be competing in the EWC (Endurance World Championship), and the reproduced GSX-R750 #604 were also on display at the venue, attracting a lot of attention.
