Zhejiang Tinghao Auto & Motorcycle Parts Co., Ltd., a parts manufacturer based in Taizhou, China, exhibited at the 52nd Tokyo Motorcycle Show, held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 28th to 30th. They showcased a new type of motorcycle seat. The company has been a specialized manufacturer of motorcycle seat cushions for 20 years. At their booth at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, they showcased the revolutionary “3D thinkpro” motorcycle seat. Created using a 3D printer, this seat differs from the traditional seat base, which has a seat cushion (sponge) placed on top and then covered with a leather. Instead, it features a 3D mesh-like cushion placed on top of the seat base, allowing riders to sit directly on it. The 3D thinkpro seat cushion features a honeycomb-structured mesh that is interwoven in three dimensions, providing cushioning equivalent to a sponge while allowing air to pass through. Pressing the cushion with your hand revealed a moderate bounce and a soft feel. Like the honeycomb-structured gel cushions that were popular for a while, it supports the rider’s weight over a wide area, preventing pain in the buttocks. The entire seat is made of mesh, even inside, so your butt won’t get too stuffy in the summer, and even in sudden rain showers, the mesh allows water to pass through, eliminating the worry of water pooling around your crotch. It’s easy to wash if it gets dirty, and it has many other benefits for motorcycles. However, the company doesn’t currently sell its products in Japan, so it seems to be made to order. They produce seats for any bike, using a 3D scanner to measure the part before production, but each one costs around $600, and they don’t take single orders; they only accept orders in lots of 50.
