Base vehicle: Kawasaki Z1000MKⅡ…released in 1978 (1979 model)

The photo shows a fully restored motorcycle made using parts manufactured by the company, which was exhibited at the “PMC.Inc” booth at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2024. The color of the motorcycle in the photo is dark blue, a 1979 model.
The Kawasaki Z1000MKII was released in 1978 (1979 model) and was an export-only model produced until 1980. It was designed as the successor to the rounded Z1000, featuring features such as a teardrop-shaped gas tank also used on the Z1. It stands out from the Z1 and Z1000, and is still respected by a wide range of people today as a pioneering model of the “Kaku-Z” (Kawasaki’s angular Z series). The Z1000MKII was produced at Kawasaki’s Lincoln Plant (Nebraska) in the United States. When it was released, it was extremely popular not only in North America but also around the world.

The only standard parts are the frame and main engine parts (cylinder head, crankcase, etc.), with the rest being almost entirely new parts.

The front and rear cast wheels are LAVORANTE Sfidare. To improve maneuverability, the front wheels have been downsized from the standard 19 inches to 17 inches, and the rear wheels from 18 inches to 17 inches.

By changing the wheels, the front tires have been significantly wider, from 3.25-19 to 120/70-17, and the rear tires have been significantly wider, from 4.00-18 to 200/55-17.

The front brakes are equipped with large diameter disc rotors and Brembo 4-piston radial calipers.

The McCoy swingarm has been lightened to reduce weight and increase customizability. The color is blacked out to match the body.

The upright forks on the front and the twin rear shocks with reserve tanks are a collaboration model between McCoy and Nitron. “I’m happy that Nitron’s suspension can be freely tuned to suit the vehicle,” says Bulldog’s President Kazui.
Based on the Kawasaki Z1000MKII, known as the pioneering model of the “Kaku-Z” (Kawasaki Z series with its angular form), the Z1000MKII GT-M was produced by BULL DOCK (Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture), a leading name in big bike customization, including the Kawasaki Z series.
GT-M (Genuine Tuning Machine) is a reliable complete machine (Note 1) proposed by Bulldog. Crafted with high-precision techniques based on a deep knowledge of vintage models, each GT-M is customized to meet the customer’s needs. After carefully examining preferences, riding feel, budget, etc., production begins after detailed discussions.
The GT-M will undergo a full engine overhaul, repair of any warped or damaged frame, renewal of electrical parts, replacement and repainting of exterior parts, as well as a thorough customization of the suspension with the latest parts to bring it up to modern driving standards. Tuning will be carried out to bring out the high potential of the car and rival modern models (the degree of tuning and customization will vary depending on budget, etc.).
The Z1000MKII GT-M in the photo has been bored out from the stock 1,015cc to 1,260cc, and has been fitted with a high camshaft and a Yoshimura Mikuni TMR-MJNΦ38 4-stroke racing carburetor for increased power. The after-sales service, including the inclusion of a dry slipper clutch, has also been perfected.
The upright front forks and twin rear shocks are a collaboration between McCoy and Nitron. The front disc brake caliper is a Brembo 4-piston radial mount, while the rear disc brake caliper is a Brembo 2-piston. The suspension is finished in a luxurious style with a hollowed-out and blacked-out swingarm and cast wheels.
*Note 1: BULL DOCK, a custom shop specializing in Kawasaki's air-cooled Z series, generally provides a 5,000km or one-year warranty after engine overhauls and tuning (as of April 2025). Please contact the company for more information.
