Improved boxer engine and lightweight chassis provide outstanding driving performance

The new BMW Motorrad R 1300 RT touring model announced in Europe inherits the features of the previous RT series while achieving further evolution. The newly developed 1,300cc boxer engine delivers 145 horsepower (107 kW) at 7,750 rpm and maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This makes it the most powerful BMW production boxer engine to date. The bore and stroke are set at 106.5 mm and 73 mm, respectively, making it a bigger bore and shorter stroke compared to the previous model, the R 1250 RT (102.5 mm x 76 mm). This results in sharper response and smoother acceleration at high revs.

The chassis has also been completely redesigned, with a newly designed steel main frame and aluminum rear frame. This improves the rigidity of the body and optimizes weight distribution. The front and rear suspensions also feature EVO Telelever and EVO Paralever systems, improving steering precision and driving stability. The newly designed 17-inch aluminum cast wheels are more than 1.4 kg lighter than the previous model, contributing to improved handling.

Rider-centric ergonomics and comfort

The R 1300 RT is designed with a focus on rider comfort and operability. The triangle arrangement of the handlebars, footrests and seat has been revised to move the rider’s seating position forward. This improves feedback from the front section and increases control during dynamic riding. The seat height and angle are adjustable, allowing the rider to set the position to suit their individual needs.

Passenger comfort has also been improved, with the seat length extended and legroom expanded. This allows for a comfortable ride even on long-distance touring. The standard seat height is set to 780mm, improving foot reach. In addition, seats of different heights are available as options, allowing you to choose according to the rider’s physique and preferences.

A new experience brought about by advanced technology and a variety of riding modes

The R 1300 RT comes standard with three riding modes: “Rain,” “Road,” and “Eco,” which can be set according to road conditions and riding style. Selecting the optional “Riding Modes Pro” adds “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro” modes for a sportier ride. BMW ShiftCam technology also variably controls the intake valve timing and lift, achieving efficient combustion and smooth power delivery.

The newly introduced “Automated Shift Assistant (ASA)” automates clutch operation and allows the rider to choose between manual or automatic shifting. This allows the rider to concentrate on riding without having to worry about shifting. In addition, the optional “Dynamic Chassis Adaptation (DCA)” features two riding positions, variable spring rates, and damping modes, achieving both comfort and dynamic handling.

A fusion of comprehensive equipment and sophisticated design

The R 1300 RT comes standard with 27-liter side cases, ensuring ample storage when touring. The optional “Vario Case” can be adjusted from 27 to 33 liters in volume and can be opened and closed with a central locking system. Furthermore, the left case has a built-in USB-C charging port, allowing you to charge your mobile devices.

For lighting, full LED headlights are used to improve visibility at night. The optional “Headlight Pro” features adaptive headlight functionality, automatically adjusting the illumination range and brightness according to the driving situation, further enhancing safety and comfort.

The bike is available in four colors: Alpine White 3, Black Storm Metallic, Racing Blue Metallic, and Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic, allowing riders to choose the color that best suits their personality.

The new BMW R 1300 RT is a bike that combines the comfort of a touring bike with sporty riding performance at a high level. The latest technology and sophisticated design offer riders a new riding experience.
