Improved boxer engine and lightweight chassis provide outstanding driving performance

The new sports tourer “R 1300 RS” announced by BMW Motorrad in Europe has evolved further while inheriting the features of the previous RS series.

The newly developed 1,300cc boxer engine delivers 145 horsepower (107kW) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 149Nm at 6,500 rpm. This makes it the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever produced. The bore and stroke are set at 106.5mm and 73mm, respectively, making it a bigger bore and shorter stroke compared to the previous model, the R 1250 RS (102.5mm x 76mm). This results in sharper response and smoother acceleration at high revs.
The chassis has also been completely redesigned, with a newly designed steel main frame and aluminum rear frame. This improves the rigidity of the body and optimizes weight distribution. The front and rear suspensions also feature newly developed inverted telescopic forks and EVO Paralever, improving steering precision and driving stability. The newly designed 17-inch aluminum cast wheels are more than 1.4 kg lighter than the previous model, contributing to improved handling.
Rider-centric ergonomics and comfort

The R 1300 RS is designed with a focus on rider comfort and operability. The triangle arrangement of the handlebars, footrests and seat has been revised to move the rider’s seating position forward. This improves feedback from the front section and increases control during dynamic riding. The seat height and angle are adjustable, allowing the rider to set the position to suit their individual needs.
Passenger comfort has also been improved, with the seat length extended and legroom expanded. This allows for a comfortable ride even on long-distance touring. The standard seat height is set to 820 mm, improving foot reach. In addition, seats of different heights are available as options, allowing you to choose according to the rider’s physique and preferences.
A new experience brought about by advanced technology and a variety of riding modes

The R 1300 RS comes standard with three riding modes: “Rain,” “Road,” and “Eco,” which can be set according to road conditions and riding style. Selecting the optional “Riding Modes Pro” adds “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro” modes for a sportier ride. BMW ShiftCam technology also variably controls the intake valve timing and lift, achieving efficient combustion and smooth power delivery.
The newly introduced “Automated Shift Assistant (ASA)” automates clutch operation and allows the rider to choose between manual or automatic shifting, allowing the rider to concentrate on riding without the hassle of shifting. In addition, the optional “Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA)” dynamically adjusts damping and spring rates to achieve both comfort and dynamic handling.
A fusion of comprehensive equipment and sophisticated design

The R 1300 RS is equipped with a full LED headlight as standard, improving visibility at night. The optional “Headlight Pro” has an adaptive headlight function that automatically adjusts the illumination range and brightness according to the riding situation, further enhancing safety and comfort.
The bike is available in four colors: Racing Blue Metallic, Black Storm Metallic, Light White Uni, and Brooklyn Gray Metallic, allowing riders to choose the one that best suits their personality. Optional accessories for convenient touring include electrically locking side cases and a top case, as well as a tank bag with a USB-C charging port.
The new BMW R 1300 RS is a bike that combines the comfort of a sports tourer with sporty riding performance at a high level. The latest technology and sophisticated design have significantly increased the value of the model.
