Indian New Scout Sixty Bobber
Equipped with a newly designed 999cc liquid-cooled V-twin
The Scout series is a mid-range cruiser model positioned as an entry-level model that is easy to ride in terms of engine displacement and price. A new addition to the range is the “Sixty” series, equipped with a 999cc V-twin engine. The previous model was temporarily discontinued due to exhaust gas regulations, but it has been fully redesigned and revived after several years. Incidentally, the name “Sixty” comes from the “60” cubic inch displacement.
While retaining the conventional water-cooled 60-degree V-twin DOHC 4-valve layout, it is equipped with a newly designed Speed Plus 999cc engine, with maximum output increased to 85ps. The main body is made from simple steel tubing, providing supple handling and meeting a variety of customization needs. The low and long body is fitted with 16-inch fat tires mounted on cast wheels, and features a bobber style with shortened front and rear fenders. Electronic devices such as cruise control and ride modes can also be added as options. Incidentally, the Sixty series also includes the Scout Sixty Classic, which has a classical feel and deep fenders, expanding the range of options.
The Sixty series, which was temporarily suspended due to exhaust gas regulations, has been redesigned and is back as a 2025 model. It retains the basic layout of the water-cooled V-twin 999cc engine, but has been redesigned to increase power output. The body design and frame have also been redesigned, and the muffler has been changed from a dual exhaust to a single exhaust. The classic bobber style with a custom feel is appealing.

Foot reach check
The size is not too big and the ride is friendly.
Other water-cooled Scouts have a displacement of 1250cc, so this is about eight times the size. It weighs in at 243kg, on par with a domestically produced big naked bike, and its seat height of 649mm is even lower than other cruisers, making it easy to handle and offering excellent foot reach.
The handlebars are gently pulled back toward you, and the footpegs are set to mid-control, allowing you to control the bike in a natural position. In that sense, it’s a great bike for entry-level riders. Still, it’s a sports cruiser equipped with a liter-class V-twin. It revs up with the brisk throb you expect from a V-twin, and the smooth acceleration you expect from a twin-cam 4-valve is satisfying. The throttle response is gentle and easy to handle, and the overall smooth power delivery is impressive. While its appearance suggests a wilder image, it actually feels perfectly capable for city riding and commuting to and from school or work in urban areas. One thing I was concerned about was the driving feel at high speeds due to the 5-speed transmission, but with ample torque and the top gear being a bit overdrive, I was able to enjoy a leisurely cruise while keeping the RPMs down.
A classic bobber with a modern feel

The handling is light and nimble, while still maintaining the stability of a cruiser, giving you the peace of mind that you can turn at will. I think the lightweight and compact body is a key factor in its effectiveness as a cruiser. The mid-control footpeg is set at a slightly higher position, so it doesn’t touch the ground when turning corners normally, which is reassuring. It handles low-speed turns effortlessly and has a modern feel.
The vintage-style 130/90-16 front tires add a unique rolling feel to the cornering experience.
The bike’s authentic styling, including a small round headlight, a monocular analog meter, and a single saddle-style seat, embodies the essence of a “bobber.” Incidentally, a “bobber” is a stripped-down customization style designed specifically for city cruising. Originating in the United States, it has a long history and is a mainstream style of vintage customization. The standard model comes equipped with ABS. The Limited model also boasts a range of electronic features, including traction control, riding modes, cruise control, and a USB charging port.
While embodying the classic bobber style, its lightweight, compact body, low seat, easy-to-use engine, and straightforward handling make it a highly approachable bike unlike other large cruisers. And best of all, its price tag, comparable to a Japanese-made model, is a wonderful addition. I highly recommend this bike for those new to large motorcycles and those new to cruisers.

It’s great for leisurely cruising around town like an American cruiser, but it also excels at nimble riding thanks to its lightweight, slim body. It looks like it would be fun to ride on Japan’s mountain passes.
Detailed explanation

The newly designed engine follows the same water-cooled 60-degree V-twin DOHC 4-valve layout as the Scout series, but the displacement has been scaled down from 1250cc to 999cc. Maximum output has also been tuned to be easier to handle, from 105ps to 85ps.

The front and rear are fitted with 16-inch cast aluminum wheels, and the front brake is a φ298mm single disc with a 2-piston caliper. The tires are wide, high-profile Kenda 130/90-16 size with a vintage design. Dual-channel ABS is standard equipment.

The rear brake is equipped with a 298mm single disc rotor and one-piston caliper, the same diameter as the front, while the rear tire is a slightly narrower 150/80-16 size.

The rear suspension is equipped with a laydown type twin shock absorber. The wheel travel is small at 51mm, but the suspension is installed with a large incline to achieve a progressive effect (soft initially, firm at the back).

The wide-span upright forks and small round headlights create a classic atmosphere. The lights, including the turn signals, are all LED.

The single saddle-type seat is equipped with a backrest. The seat surface is non-slip for a secure hold, and the piping on the sides has stitching for a luxurious feel.

The long silencer stretches out horizontally and has a subtle Indian logo badge attached to it, a major change from the previous model’s dual exhaust.

The rear fender, which also serves as the rear frame, is made of thick die-cast aluminum for a sturdy build. The turn signals are also used as tail and brake lights, making it functionally minimalist.

The cockpit is simple with only a single meter. The flat fuel tank that accentuates the low and long form has an advertised capacity of 13L.

The simple monocular speedometer has a built-in multi-function LCD display that can display gear position, fuel level, clock, tachometer, and distance.
