This set includes the parking brake itself, a fixing nut, and two types of anti-rotation pins, collars, and bolts of different lengths to fit various front brake master cylinders.

Parking brake details

By attaching this product to the front brake master, the lever can be fixed in the braking position. This fixes the vehicle’s position after parking, preventing it from moving forward or backward. Also, when loading a motorcycle onto a car, the vehicle’s position can be fixed, preventing the body from shifting when secured with tie-downs.

The parking brake is a quick-release type, which means that after the brake is locked, the stopper automatically returns to its original position when the brake lever is squeezed again.

The body is made of precision-machined aluminum, and the surface is anodized to create a beautiful finish around the handle. The body is a two-tone silver and black color.

How to install the parking brake

To install, remove the “genuine lever pivot bolt” and genuine nut that secure the front brake master cylinder body to the brake lever, then place the included washer and parking brake body on top of the front brake master cylinder body, and secure it together with the brake lever using the included socket cap bolt and genuine nut.

This product comes with two different sizes of anti-rotation pins, collars, and bolts, increasing the versatility of the target front brake master cylinder.

●Short collar/bolt: Suitable for brake lever pivot length 17mm

●Long collar/bolt: Suitable for brake lever pivot length 22.5mm

 How to check the dimensions of the removed lever pivot bolt (including genuine parts) compatible with this product

When removing the brake lever from the front brake master cylinder, remove the lever pivot bolt. Measure the shaft length from the underside of the bolt head to the threaded part (see diagram below) and the shaft thickness (shaft diameter in diagram below) to confirm the dimensions.

This product can be installed if the shaft length is 17mm or 22.5mm and the shaft diameter is Φ7.9mm.

*The shaft length is measured from the bottom of the bolt head to the threaded part. Please note that this is not the external dimension (top to bottom). Please check the dimensions by referring to the diagram below.

Precautions

・This product is an auxiliary part for parking. It is not designed to securely hold the vehicle in place when parking on rough roads or slopes. Please be careful. Always make sure the engine is stopped before applying the parking brake.

・There is a front brake master cylinder that is compatible. Please check the specified dimensions of the brake lever mounting area shown in the diagram.

・It can be installed on various vehicles as long as it is within the specified dimensions. Also, on vehicles with a cowl around the handlebars, the parking brake itself may interfere and prevent installation. Please check your vehicle before purchasing.

・The original nuts will be reused. If the original nuts are damaged, please purchase new ones.

・Cannot be installed at the same time as the Special Parts Takegawa aluminum billet lever.
