Johnny Walker finishes in an astonishing 6th place at the 2025 Red Bull Elzbergrodeo

Triumph achieves historic feat at Erzbergrodeo, where only 1% of racers complete the race

At the 2025 Red Bull Elzbergrodeo, Jonny Walker achieved an astonishing 6th place finish on a Triumph TF250-E. This race is the world’s most challenging hard enduro race, with a completion rate of only 1%. Of the 500 riders who took part, only 14 managed to finish within the 4-hour time limit, making it a grueling battle.

Competing on a near-standard TF250-E four-stroke , Walker proved himself one of the most experienced riders in hard enduro, and demonstrated the performance, durability and competitiveness of Triumph’s production enduro machines on the world’s most demanding courses.

From 7th in qualifying to 6th in the final! A winning run based on a production car

Returning triumphantly to the Iron Giant mine in Eisenerz, Austria, Walker impressed the British rider with a confident and consistent performance in the Iron Road Prologue qualifying race, finishing in seventh place and securing a front row starting grid for Sunday’s main event.

In the final, the Hare Squamble, 500 riders took on the grueling 35km course, with only 14 reaching the finish line within the four-hour time limit. Walker got off to a good start, quickly setting the pace in the early stages and moving up to third place.

Despite the harsh terrain in the second half of the race, he maintained 6th place

Running in fourth place for much of the race, Walker dropped to sixth as the gruelling climbs and unforgiving terrain in the second half of the race challenged the riders, but he held on to that position until the chequered flag, marking a brilliant finish for both rider and team .

A battle on equal terms with the 2-strokes based on production bikes

Maximum performance with minimal modifications

What makes Walker’s sixth place finish even more impressive is that he achieved it with only a few race parts added to a stock TF250-E engine: XTRIG triple clamps, Renthal handlebars and Haan Wheels, among other limited modifications.

With these minimal modifications, the TF250-E was able to compete against factory-supported 2-stroke machines and spend most of the race in the lead pack, further highlighting its performance .

The only 4-stroke machine to complete the race

The TF250-E became the only four- stroke , and in its Hard Enduro debut, Walker and Triumph proved that this bike can tackle and conquer the world’s most challenging courses straight from the showroom.

Comments from riders and team members

Johnnie Walker’s delighted statement

“It was an amazing race! The bike was perfect, I had no issues whatsoever. It’s just come out and I’ve only been riding it for two weeks and I’ve had no issues at all,” Walker said excitedly.

“The only thing I wanted to change was the tyre mousse. I didn’t know what to expect so I set it on a stiffer setting, but I lost traction in the tree-lined sections after the rain and that put me at a disadvantage. But honestly, this is an incredible result. To be able to take part in this demanding extreme enduro and finish in the top six with a four-stroke engine and minimal upgrades makes me incredibly happy. It really proves the potential of the Triumph TF250-E .”

Team manager’s moving comments

Paul Edmondson – Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team Manager said:

“As a rider who competes in the Erzbergrodeo, I have always had a deep respect for the effort and skill that the competitors put in to conquer the Iron Giant, so I am truly impressed and pleased to see Jonny and his new bike achieve such a great result in this extremely demanding event.”
