Taito Mobility proposes a new era of covered bikes

Taito Mobility Services Co., Ltd. (Hachioji City, Tokyo, CEO: Eisuke Oinuma) began selling the “SLR for NMAX” roof kit for the Yamaha NMAX125 (2025 model) on June 30, 2025. This roof kit, developed by the company that has been proposing a new transportation option in the form of a covered motorcycle, not only protects against rain, wind, and strong sunlight, but also boasts stylish and durable specifications. It is gaining attention as a new standard that greatly improves comfort in a variety of situations, from commuting and business to private touring.

Since developing a roof kit for scooters in 1985, the company has been supplying roofed scooters to the pizza delivery industry, logistics, medical care, and various service industries. Utilizing the know-how it has cultivated over the years as a pioneer of roofed motorcycles, it has completed a kit for the NMAX that meets the latest user demands.

All-weather roof makes motorcycle life comfortable

The “SLR for NMAX” is a high-performance roof kit that can be retrofitted. When installed, it extends the overall length to 2,000mm, width to 900mm, and height to 1,840mm, providing ample overhead and side coverage. Of particular note is its UV protection, with the screen blocking 95.8% of UV-A and 99.9% of UV-B rays, achieving the world’s highest UV Protection Factor (UPF). This protects the rider’s skin from UV rays while significantly reducing the risk of sunburn.

Furthermore, the bike is built with a lightweight yet extremely rigid A7075 aluminum alloy frame for added strength. The roof is made of weather-resistant dual-layer ABS, while the windscreen is made of scratch-resistant double-sided hard-coated polycarbonate. The design effectively blocks rain, hot wind, and cold wind, allowing you to enjoy riding comfortably all year round.

Combining design and practicality, this style stands out on the street.

The SLR for NMAX is not just a practical item, but also features a design that does not detract from the original stylishness of the NMAX. The roof silhouette and the balance of the 550mm windscreen width have been adjusted to match the sharp, urban form, creating a sense of unity with the factory body despite being an aftermarket addition. The kit itself weighs approximately 9.9kg, and even when installed, the net weight is kept to approximately 9kg, which is another attractive feature as it does not significantly affect handling.

It also has an accessory power terminal, allowing for high expandability for devices such as navigation systems, dashcams, and smartphone charging. In addition to the sense of security that comes with a roof, it supports a wide range of uses, from business to leisure.

Reliable quality with over 30 years of technology

Tate Mobility was spun off from the former Teito Sangyo and has supported the industry through the development of roofs for delivery bikes and delivery-related products. The SLR for NMAX was created by pouring in the knowledge gained from many years of experience and reviewing all aspects of design, structure, and materials. It makes commuting to work on rainy days, making deliveries, and traveling under the blazing sun less stressful, turning travel itself into a comfortable and safe experience.

The retail price is 280,500 yen (tax included), and it is recommended that installation be done by a motorcycle specialist. Since its release, there have already been inquiries from various quarters, and it looks like it will become a new option for NMAX owners, allowing them to ride safely even on rainy days.

Teito Mobility Services has an extensive lineup of products, including the “Brezza” roof for gear and the “SLR for Tricity” for the Tricity, and says it will continue to develop products that support comfortable and safe mobility while incorporating user feedback. More details can be found on the company’s website (https://teito-ms.co.jp). We look forward to seeing how “covered bikes” continue to become established as a new form of everyday transportation.
