Honda’s electric motorcycle strategy expands in the European market

Honda is further advancing its electric motorcycle strategy in the European market. The newly announced CUV e: is its second electric scooter for the European market, following the EM1 e:, and also marks the debut of “RoadSync Duo,” a new connectivity app with advanced features for electric mobility. Honda has set an ambitious plan to launch 30 electric motorcycle models by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality for its entire motorcycle lineup by 2040, and the introduction of the CUV e: marks an important step towards that goal.
The acronym CUV originated in 1994 with the CUV ES, a model released by Honda exclusively for the Japanese market. It stands for Clean Urban Vehicle, and its concept of clean mobility in urban environments remains relevant even 30 years later. The CUV e: retains this name and is positioned as the core model of Honda’s electric scooter strategy in Europe.
Detachable MPP e: Two batteries achieve a range of over 70km

The CUV e: is equipped with two removable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries developed by Honda, ensuring a maximum driving range of over 70km. Based on the same concept as the EM1 e:, it is equipped with a 6kW transversely mounted E-Drive motor that delivers a maximum torque of 22Nm. This gives it a top speed comparable to that of conventional 125cc class vehicles, and provides powerful and smooth acceleration characteristics.
While the EM1 e: is designed for short-distance urban travel, the CUV e: is versatile enough to handle a wide range of situations, including commuting and medium-distance travel. Its lightweight, sturdy steel tube cradle frame is fitted with 26mm front forks, a rear monoshock, and 12-inch wheels, providing stability not only in the city but also on slightly rougher roads.
The exterior features a modern design that combines smooth curves and soft lines, and the high-quality full LED lights create a unique signature, highlighting the delicate design that is characteristic of Honda. Furthermore, the spaciousness of the foot space ensured by the flat footboard is a key point that symbolizes the combination of design and practicality.
RoadSync Duo pioneers intelligent electric motorcycles

Honda RoadSync Duo, which was announced at the same time as the CUV e:, is an app specifically for electric mobility that is an evolution of the existing Honda RoadSync. Equipped with a 7-inch TFT screen and intelligent navigator, it seamlessly communicates with the vehicle through smartphone connectivity. It monitors the remaining battery level and suggests the optimal route in real time. In addition, the software can be kept up to date via over-the-air updates (OTA), enhancing the user experience from both a hardware and software perspective.
The vehicle is also packed with features designed for convenience as an urban commuter, including easy starting with a smart key, an assist back function that helps with maneuvering in tight spaces, a USB-C port for device charging, and newly designed switches that are intuitive to operate, all of which support ease of use in urban areas.
It has a storage compartment behind the windshield, under-seat storage, and can also accommodate the installation of a genuine top box, ensuring flexible utility for everything from everyday use to short trips.
The MPP e:Battery network is expanding worldwide

The removable battery “MPP e:” installed on the CUV e: is more than just a power source for electric scooters. Honda unveiled this concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, and has since used it as the core technology for its battery-sharing business, which is being rolled out in India, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand. Furthermore, Honda is currently conducting demonstration experiments in Europe in collaboration with GoCimo, a Swedish company based in Malmö.
The CUV e: is Honda’s next MPP battery-equipped model, following the Benly e:, Gyro e:, Gyro Canopy e:, EM1 e:, and Activa e:, and is being considered for application in light vehicles, agricultural machinery, construction vehicles, ships, and more, in addition to motorcycles. The MPP e: is a sustainable solution developed to provide access to clean and safe energy to people around the world, and can be said to be a symbol of the electric mobility society that Honda envisions.
The CUV e: is scheduled to go on sale in Europe from September 2025. The price, including two batteries and two chargers, will be 4,690 euros (including VAT), and it will be available in two colors: Pearl Jubilee White and Premium Silver Metallic. This scooter, which represents the next stage in electric mobility, is set to breathe new life into European cityscapes soon.
