Introducing the new color “MAT WHITE” and the evolution of the 48V model
WO’s Wonkey range of small motorized bicycles has been updated with a new, eye-catching colour: MAT WHITE. The 48V model, the Wonkey 48V, has been announced, and boasts improved hill-climbing capabilities compared to the standard model. The bike will go on sale from 11am on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the flagship store in Nakameguro, with pre-orders already being accepted on the official online shop.
The Wonkey is a popular electric mobility device with an accelerator that can be ridden by anyone aged 16 or over without a license. While the standard Wonkey is a 36V model, the 48V model is a high-powered model that can be ridden comfortably in hilly areas and by riders weighing over 75kg. Despite its pop appearance, it has also made significant advances in terms of performance.
Increase driving range with selectable large-capacity batteries
Another big topic of this announcement is the increased battery capacity options. Previously, a 10.4Ah battery was standard, but new options of 13Ah and 21Ah have been added to the Wonkey (36V), and 13Ah and 17.5Ah have been added to the Wonkey 48V. This increases the driving range to a maximum of approximately 80km, significantly improving practicality for commuting and city riding.
For example, the 36V 21Ah model can travel approximately 50-80km, while the 48V 17.5Ah model can travel a similar distance. Charging time for either battery is approximately 4-6 hours, so if you charge it overnight, it will be fully operational the next day. Prices vary depending on battery capacity, with the most expensive model, the Wonkey 48V 17.5Ah, costing 269,500 yen (tax included).
Unique design for comfort and safety
The appeal of the Wonkey series is not just its performance, but also its design that makes it easy and safe for anyone to ride. For example, the saddle height is low at 56cm from the ground, and it allows easy foot placement, so even small people can ride stably. Also, because it is designed to be ridden by operating the throttle, even people who are not confident in their physical strength can move around easily.
The chainless design makes maintenance easy and eliminates the worry of getting your clothes dirty. The removable battery is lockable to prevent theft and can be charged indoors. It also comes equipped with front and rear lights, indicators, and a maximum speed indicator, making it suitable for riding on public roads. The highly visible display and simple operation of the switches also make it beginner-friendly.
